I fell asleep and did not watched it all only the beginning..............The announcer once said marshall does not have a catch yet......I said to myself.....Im gonna see the whole game just to see how well marshall does....And fell asleep dam...
To be fair, the pass would have been a great catch if he had made it.
As a number one you expect to see that, but to say it was an easy catch was just not true.

That said another comment regarding WRs and the GB version of the WCO.
- I saw 2-3 passes from Rodgers that I would call identical to the one Marshall dropped. ie Couldabeen? Shouldabeen? maybe on a good day, but not even close to being easy grabs.
- What struck me at the time was just how good (not how bad) these receivers have to be to make that catch ...
- I don't think we have but one player on our team (Bess) that would have possibly made any of the 4 catches (Marshall's miss, or any of the the GB drops)... too much velocity for the outstretched and strained hands to pull in (that time).
The game was a defensive struggle until GB did the trick fake FG and pulled ahead.
We have some work for or WRs to get to the point that we are competitive to either of these passing games.
James Jones also caught the wrath of Rodgers for breaking off a route and causing an INT. Didn't someone on here say that was a knock on him, might be why Philbin didn't pursue him harder?

I was careful in the wording of my OP, in that I avoided saying it was an "easy catch" to make. BUT as you said, a true #1 makes that catch *as if* it were easy.
Yes he had to jump, but it hit him in both hands--not the edge of his fingertips, but squarely in both hands. AND he was open--no defender was close enough to distract or block his vision. Commentator even said that Cutler "couldn't have put it in a better place than that."
In Miami, he may have made the catch, then promptly heaved it at the face of the nearest ref/opposing coach/small child, netting us another nifty 15 yard penalty for being a d-bag.
It seems he has trouble to adjusting to balls while they're in flight.
Better receiver get their heads around sooner, position their bodies better, and make those catches look a lot easier.
Have fun with this guy Chicago, you'll be wishing for those draft picks back before long.
funny this topic did not come up in week one when he had 9 catches 119 yards and 1 TD... he will go from a top 25 wr (with us) to a top 7 reciever. I dont see what the issue is. we had a marginal passing attack and underutilized his ability. He is one of the best recievers in the game.
And that catch in the endzone if he caught it would have been a sportcenter catch, it is not like he dropped a route catch.

You mean the 9 for 119 and 1 against the Colts and Vonte Davis??

OK Jc i saw game yesterday on demand. WOw......Perfect pass. Im telling you he is hopeless and im glad he is out of here....
Did he ever had that problem before he was with the phins? I dont recall......
Maybe you remember or anybody else remembers this.
Yes SamSam, Marshall has always been at the top of the list for dropped balls, even with Denver. You can live with his drops if he's producing in spite of them (which he really wasn't with us), it's all of the other stuff that he does that makes it hard to put up with. The off the field stuff, the stupid 15 yrders, and the biggest thing for us, the me first, Diva-recieva attitude, he would of been horrible for a rookie QB IMO.
The only exception I can think of off-hand is if you're the great Peyton Manning and you're talking about your "drunken Canadian" kicker. Two things, though - (1) if anyone ever earned that right, Manning did and (2) kickers are members of the team, but I'm not sure they're really players.
I'm just bringing it up because it was a funny memory I have of 'all business' Manning being human for once.
