No question Bush is a great player, but think of it as a draft saving trade, because you're already well stocked at the position with Jorvorskie Lane and D. Thomas plus you've got Thigpen/Miller to do the third down stuff in the backfield.
What this team needs to draft next season are Receivers...so you'd get a great one in Wallace in return for probably a high contract guy you don't really need in Bush.
The rumors are swirling about this trade. I think I like it for the phins...
Overall Bush is probably our best individual offensive player and still has gas in the tank. That said, I'm not sure a 200lb feature back is going to help THIS team THIS year OR that he'll be around much longer. So IF and that's a BIG IF we could get a good young player that can help right away AND some decent draft positioning I wouldn't be upset.
No just because we would have to pay Mike Wallace a huge contract just to keep him beyond this year. The contract for Wallace is going to be MUCH larger than the one Bush gets after this season. So not worth the money. I like that we will have lots of cap space and don't want to trade it in for a WR that might not even fit our system. Not to mention that in our system WR seem to be devalued, i.e. better to have 3-4 good receivers than 1 great WR and 2-3 average ones.
