I thought RT showed some good signs for the future. Once he learns not to stare down his target he will have fewer balls batted down. he made some nice throws...but he had the expected 'too much juice' on many.

Once he settles down he will be better.

Martin and Jerry weren't horrible..had some good snaps...but had some rookie mistakes ( I know Jerry's not a rookie...but he might as well be). They too will settle in an the OL will improve.

Reggie Bush looks great.

Bess and Hartline are keepers. All other WR's were invisible.

Brandon Marshall had 9 catches for 119 yds and 1 TD today....just sayin'

We got Michael Egnew and BJ. Cunningham for him so far plaus what we do with next year's pick. So far...not sure this was the best move...Bess, Hartline and Marshall would be pretty good for Tannehill.


Defense?....I will give it some time...to be honest...if not for the 4 turnovers and 24 points in 6 minutes...I think our D played well enough to win.

My fear is that as players realize this is a rebuilding season...will they play and develop like they need to? Hope so.

Marshall will likely have a better year for the Bears than he even did for us last year. However, he dropped one (albeit a somewhat tough one) in the end zone.

On the other side of Ireland's offseason trade-aways in that game, Vontae was abused pretty badly. Had 2 TDs (at least) thrown on his coverage.

I really liked what I saw in Tanny. He can throw and will learn to make better decisions. Deffense was better then expected. Starks looked like a beast. Special teams made some plays, I love Jimmy Wilson and Thigpen impressed.

This was one of the harder Teams we face this year. Its going to get better.

What could you possibly like in what you saw with Tanny? I mean seriously. He gets balls batted down, missed at least 2 wide open receivers. locks in on his receivers.

I'd rather him play WR and let Moore play QB

Agreed its going to get better.

I want to take a look at the raiders tonight and see how good they are.

Most rookie QB's lock in on their target....especially rookie starters.

Peyton Manning had 28 INT's his rookie year.

The game is faster, the coaches have more experience breakdown film and tendancies, the defendors have more tricks up their sleeve than in college. Those batted down balls were not the result of him being too short, or of bad mechanics, they were 100% because RT stared down his target...and the DE read his eyes. Also RT needs to see his target through the throwing lanes.

I guess the doubt is now beginning to creep into my mind that maybe I was right in my original assessment that he should have sat this year and learned.

But again, it is totally disturbing that he is AFTER A PRESEASON WHERE HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN COACHED staring down receivers and tapping the ball.

I know we have a bad GM but is Philbin also a bad coach????

IMO, Gerrard getting hurt was the worst thing for RT. If Garrard was in that game yesterday it is a close game...and RT gets to watch and learn. Win or lose, barring injury...Garrard continues to start through to the bye....RT learning, watching etc.

I think they cut Dave to save the $2.4 million...and now they can't bring him back without causing a controversy and risk shaking RT's confidence.

I guess the positive is we will see if he has a strong mind and will and learns from his mistakes and stays positive.

It's OK that RT got thrown to the wolves. I sure as hell don't golf any better when I watch other people do it, I get better by hitting the damn ball myself after my swing coach tells me what I'm doing wrong. A QB needs reps just like a golfer does. Repetition is what makes improvement.

I don't feel so bad with RT's three pics, after all, Mr. Once In A Generation Best QB Prospect Of The 2012 Draft #1 Overall Pick Andrew Luck had three pics too.

I read and saw a lot of arguments that RG3 would have been a better choice than Luck. That is looking true.

If Ireland had sold out the next couple draft to grab RG3, I would not have complained. That is not hindsight, I thought that at draft time. If we were going to pick a QB in the first round, the only choice would have been to go for RG3, considering there was no way Indy was going to give up Luck.

Ireland is an idiot. Its not that I don't think RT will be good someday, its just that I think we are looking at an Alex Smith situation... it will take a few years and some players around him before he looks any good.

But about 9,832,895 others would have complained, whined, howled, gone on hunger strike, and removed all sharp objects from their home and workplace.

And heaven forbid the one guy get injured, then about 5,000x the above number would have done the same.
