I an so angry right now -the national pundits(including Marino!) are all acting like "well, we knew it all along!". Nobody bothered to mention that with 1:58 left in the half the score was tied 3-3 and the Dolphins were playing well. 24 points in less than 2 mins is a fluke in anybody's book.

The measure of a football team comes in how it faces adversity.

I'm not surprised that as soon as the lead was lost this team began to slide fast. I don't think anyone - except the most delusional fans - are surprised.

Nobody is surprised that you would chime in after the bottom fell out.

The bottom fell out when Ross bought the team and kept Ireland around.

sorry man, I know we see the team thru rose colored glasses but this is straight loser talk. since when it is deemed a positive when you are tied 3-3 in the 2d Q of an NFL game and then give up 24 points at the end of the 2d Q? that's not a fluke that is a BAD team. I've taken off my rosey glasses

The score is inconsequential. We were never going to win this game. What is significant are all the tipped passes by Tannehill. All that matters to me is finding out whether Tannehill is going to be the longtime starter. We're still a long way from knowing this but I have to admit, this was not the best start. Time will tell.

i just hope forcing RT to play on such a horrible team, esp offense, will not ruin him like it did David Carr. it's a real danger

This is why I thought there would be no way they play him this year. Oh well.

The David Carr argument is in my opinion bogus. If Carr had the stuff to be a great QB, he'd have become one. There were plenty of QBs selected high in the draft that just never panned out. Plus, Carr got sacked every other play. Tannehill has been protected fairly well. Bottom line, either the kid has it or he doesn't. The only way to find out is to play him. Given that we might be picking rather high next year, I want to know if we need to be looking at QBs.

Tannehill looks like $#!T today. He's got a LOOOOONG way to go before he's at all legit.
4th and goal....batted!!
The defender jumped, and Tanney looked like he was trying to hit him!
Why the F did he still throw it???
Very SHAKEY start for Thill!!

This is what happens when you stare down the receiver and then pat the ball before you throw. They know exactly when to jump.

Tannehill has a long, long way to go.

If Tannehill isn't up to the task, better we find out now. Personally, this year should be an evaluation year for the roster. Who improves and who doesn't. Who we need to replace and who is worth a roster spot. We lost a game that we had no business winning. I want to see if the team is playing better each week or not. We'll find out a lot about Tannehill next week. This was a very difficult game to begin his career. How he comes back (or doesn't) will tell us a lot about him.

Oh, and in response to the title of this thread, I don't give 2 sh**s what the pundits think.

I agree, and I think many of the posters spitting vitriol now will agree too when the adrenaline stops pumping and they start to think about the game objectively. Except possibly Dking.

The only smart plays I saw Tannehill make were late in the game when the score was 30-10 with about 2 minutes to go when we would have the ball inside the 20 yard line 4th and whatever, when Tannehill knew he couldn't throw a touchdown, he threw the ball to whatever eligible receiver there was at about the 5 or 6 yard line. The announcers condemned him for not trying to make the touchdown throw but he was smart.

Why was that smart?

Because when the ball went over on downs, Houston had the ball at our 5 or 6 instead of our 10 or 14 yard line, as an incomplete pass would have done or back at the 20 as an interception in the end zone would have had it. Tanny was smart not to throw any ball in the endzone unless our receiver was butt-naked open.

really? that is a bone head play. at that point what difference does it make whether the other team takes over at the 20 or the 10? you throw it into the endzone and hope for a miracle, a PI call, whatever. Under no circumstances do you just give up the ball on downs. Is everyone taking crazy pills around here?

"I'm not surprised that as soon as the lead was lost this team began to slide fast." What are you talking about? After the horrendous two minutes just before the half, we only gave up seven points the rest of the way.

I agree. And yes, I think the crazy pills got handed out big time.

It is clear the state of this team is not good.

The ONLY bright side of this game was that the team for once seemed well coached. No delay of game penalties. Good special teams. Going for a TD instead of FGs on appropriate situations. Sane replay calls. All of our Timeouts available at the end of halves. Its clear our coaching staff rocks.

But if ANYONE has ANYTHING good to say about what ANY Dolphins Offensive or Defense start (aside from Bush or Rasid Jones who both had good days) I've got to wonder what game you were watching. The team as a whole stunk. And it wasn't as if they didn't come to play - clearly they were well coached and had a good game plan. They were just outmatched talent wise.

That is to say, the FO has had three years to stock this team and we are still fielding complete garbage.

This game was alot closer than the final score. We hung uncomfortably close to a team that is supposed to be making a Superbowl run.

Unfortunately, we discovered some of our fatal flaws. The self inflicted wounds are fixable. I hope that this coaching staff can adjust and develop quicker than last years crew.

Tannehill had it together until he faced adversity of the first turnover that lead to the Texans score and he was unable to bounce back on the next drive instead the tip ball...After that Tannehill looked scared and gun shy after the second interception and then sacks. The redzone offense, playcalling, reads, Qbing was atrocious. He seemed a bit overwhelmed and like a rookie starting his first game... Lets see how he bounces back next week.. Can he correct his problems... Sometimes it takes what happened today for a guy to learn..

The difference is that at the 20, they have breathing space and can risk a downfield pass or two. Back at their own 10 and further back, they have to play conservatively.

Our receivers weren't getting wide open and wide open in the endzone is the only pass you want to complete, any incompletion, on the other hand, greatly reduces yourchance of a comeback.

Really? I didn't hear them mention patting the ball at all. But maybe you can give me an idea where they said this so I can look it up. I'm curious if they really said this, or if you are just trolling....

BTW - the pat is the tell for the D-Line, not the stare down. The D-Line needs to know when to jump, and just looking at a WR doesn't give them that information. The pat tells them exactly when the throw is coming.
