question for all true Dolphin fans

I read alot about how the Dolphins practices were fast paced.... super fast paced. Then I saw the pre-season games and how bad the team looked.

Question is : Do you think the fast paced practices took the legs away from the team? And if that is true the team in theory should get their legs back and play stronger as the season goes?

No, they looked like crap in the pre-season because they are trying to install 2 new systems with a whole new coaching staff and a bunch of un-proven young guys.

I like to think so. I expect we'll see alot more "Hurry Up" and "No Huddle" than we saw in PS. I hope the defense can do their part and maybe we'll see close to the 90 snaps that Philbin alluded to.

You can hurry-up and:

Lose

or

Win

Either way, when you hurry-up you're banking on execution and consistency.

Odds are its going to get pretty ugly sometimes and look kind of foolish when we hurry-up and spin our wheels going nowhere.

One thing for sure, it will certainly help this team a LOT to get a few breaks early, get the lead and play from a confident "downhill" standpoint. If we get behind early, and have trouble getting on-track it will be really difficult to play "uphill" with the (a) lack of critical experience and (b) lack of big-time playmakers.

But keep in mind, this season is "Research and Development" first and foremost.

BNF.

Ain't that the truth. Think about the last few years. I've never seen a more 'luckless' team. I think they get in a mindset of expecting to lose.

It's the #13 Marino/Shula curse.... but it ends 13 years from 1999....hmmmmm

Comes from treating legends like crap.

Obviously, the fast paced double field practices gave the Dolphins many more reps then we would have had other wise.

We were clearly resting some of the VETS toward the end of preseason. Some of that was injury related.

The theory is to make practice harder and faster than the real games.

When the real games start with the true starting lineup we will see if it truly works.

Doesn't matter how fast - If they don't tackle, catch the ball, or throw it past the LOS without getting batted down, then they got nothing.

Hold on. #13 actually means more than that:

13 years BEFORE 1999 was 1986..the year after our last Superbowl appearance. 13 years before that was 1973...the year of our last Superbowl victory.

Hmm..

You saw almost nothing of the real Dolphin offense in the preseason. There was a huge emphasis on the passing game because of the competition at WR and QB. If you look at Sherman's offense at Texas A&M, their run/pass split was about 50/50. Their goal is to run 80-90 plays a game. And you can count on 40 runs out of that (provided they can reach their goals, which won't be easy). You also didn't see many designed rollouts for Tannehill. I imagine you will see a lot of those during the regular seasons, as throwing on the run is a strength of his. And you didn't see much in the way of passes to Reggie Bush. I would imagine Bush will get 6-8 catches per game, so that will change from the preseason.

Expecting to see the "real" Dolphins offense before midseason is a fantasy. This team has a bunch of new, young players that look as though they have no clue what is going on.

If you expect this team to look markedly better than they did in the preseason, then your expectation are way too high, and - hence - you are setting them up to fail.

Us Dolphins fans need to get out to the fantasy mindset that the Dolphins will do anything significant this year. At this point, this is essentially an expansion team.

Miami Dolphins. Always Perfect.

Who was treated like Crap? Marino has a street named after him , I was there in 2000 when they gave him a stadium sized party. I pay respects at every game to two bronze statues of Marino and Shula. confused smiley

The bronze was after the fact, as a way of saying, "I'm sorry."
I recall Shula being interviewed about JJ coming in and he said that was the first he had heard of it. He found out about JJ replacing him in the news. No class at all. Remember, local TV in SoFla was interrupted in the middle of a Presidential press conference to announce that JJ was the new HC. Shula was no more than a dusty memory.
We deserve a "Bambino" style curse.

You realize that's from about 1919 to 2004, don't you Hooligan?

We deserve 85 years without a SuperBowl?

Not what I want but if we keep changing coaches every two or three years that's what we'll be cursed with.

really? he had no Idea? Shula was going on 22 years since his last championship . His defenses sucked Year after year. No running backs. He had no Idea that he needed to retire?
