Ireland would have to have his head up his rear not to sign him. Unfortunately, all indications point to Ireland having a severe case of anal cranial inversion.
injuries could be nagging, who knows what will happen. its not uncommon for nagging injuries to take longer than expected to heal. a few weeks could well turn into a month or two. that could be why no one has picked him up yet, i do agree though and hope we take a look at him.
I was getting a haircut and I heard a few Pats fans talking about Gaffney. They were really pissed about the cut. Maybe luck has finally turned our way?

Do you even know a thing about Gaffney's injury?
A simple google search will tell you that he is not going to sit for 8 weeks.
Read another article talking about how it took 4 weeks for Donald Lee to make a reception in Green Bay after being picked up in week one. He ended the season with some nice stats.
Point is, Gaffney will need a few weeks before he learns the offense anyway. Take him and his minor injury, give him the play book, and in a few weeks it will pay dividends. At least that is what a good GM would do.

If there is one thing this team needs - its sure handed receivers that can run routes well. That is Gaffney.

I believe Miami could always sign him, and if his injuries still haven't cleared up after a few weeks and Miami picks up another WR just as good, then he could be released.

If you sign him this week, his contract is guaranteed for the season injury or not, but what does Ireland know........
But to be fair, Dolphaholic, predicting the future has no guarantees EITHER WAY.
What if he gets healthy, either some other teams sign him or the Pats keep him and he returns to past form (which itself wouldn't be bad) or he has his best year.
You would see those same type of posts on this board.
I can't think of any vet WR (let's leave aside Ocho and Marshall) that to me is worth more of a bite on the ole worm on the hook than Jabbar Gaffney.

It means , as usual , They are FAT in that dept. Think Brady is as good as he is by himself? I would take the Pats worst reciever over our current best.

oooh Vontae don't hurt us!!

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
On one hand, If we are TRULY rebuilding. We need to stay away from old, injured guys (like David Garrard) who, through their experience and reputation, will keep our young guys from getting what they need most, playing time! On the other hand I haven't seen much from the young receivers that make me think any of them are ready to step up. Sign him i guess.
KB Even when you are in rebuilding mode you still need Vet guidence. It is ok to have a few vets with short term contracts to coach up the young players as long as you dont break the bank with these contracts.
