why not? he's an (allegedly) offensive minding guy, has a past relationship with nolan so maybe we could keep him, he's won a SB in the past (which seems to trump all, see cowher and gruden), seems like he wants to coach again (unlike those other 2)
I never understood why his name has not been tossed around these past few years, in fact I never even heard him mentioned as being intervewed in the past
does everyone in the league hate him or something?
at this point I'd be happy with gruden (longshot) or billick---we ain't getting anyone better. This job is not a top one any longer. Keeping nolan is important I think and this is the only coach where i could see that happening
fisher is OK but he's a defensive minded guy. I think we need an offensive minding guy. I am also bothered by the fact that most of fishers seasons he did not have a winning record.

Wanny was a defensive-minded coach, which is why we'd lose games 9-6. Check the scores for the Titans' games in 2008. 47, 34, 31 (3 times), 30, 28. Those are what the Titans scored in games that year. Fisher MAY have been a defensive-minded coach at one time, but, like Shula, he evolved.
Poor phins, its like showing up late to a dance and the only gals left to dance with are the heffer(andy reid), the spaced out chick(Gruden), the one with boogers all over her sleeve (fisher), the lumpy one that nobody wants (mangini), and the unibrowed half man- half woman (billick).
I overheard a conversation at work and someone else had mention Brian Billick. Said he met him at a siminar and he was one of the brightest people he has ever met.
He also called time out toward the end of the game when Baltimore was playing NE during NE's undefeated season. If he hadn't called time out, Baltimore would have won. That lone decision blew the game for Baltimore. I hate to think we'd be getting another bad game manager.
and we got our lone victory in 2007 b/c he kicked a FG on 4th and goal from the 1 to send the game into OT instead of going for the win.
some questionable calls for sure----but I don't think we are going to get much better than him to coach this trainwreck

I'm of the opposite opinion. Controlling guys are usually system guys, and we've gotten nowhere with them (JJ, Parcells).

RE: Prove your claims A&O...Both Pilbin and Carmichael are employed as offensive coorinators. If they aren't doing the job then what are they doing? You don't pay some one to be a coordinator and then just have them stand there doing nothing. That's like paying the CEO of General Motors to nothing but make coffee in a small town dealership.
However, all this really proves though is that Payton is an autocratic asshat, and a stupid one at that. You don't pay someone to do a job and then go out of your way to do it for them.
If Payton has to do the job then he absolutely does not need Carmichael on the staff. Majorly inneffective use of staffing and resources...and bad management practices too. No excuse for a failure to delegate tasks, and expect accountability for the results.
I realize that the HC is responsible for everything. But, if the guy you have employed to do a job isn't capable enough in your opinion to do that job, to the point that you have to do it yourself...that person should be fired and replaced.

That was Rex Ryan who called timeout. The D-Coordinator for the Ravens at the time.
