True Tanney was playing against #2s and 3s, but he was also playing WITH #2s and 3s.Lesser o-line and WRs to protect him and throw to.
Overall, for his first live NFL action, I thought he looked very good, and earned the chance to step in with the #1s.

True, Tanney did play against the 3rd and 4th string, and Moore played against the first, however....he also played against TB's 2nd string and still didn't do much.
Tanney took advantage of his opportunity.
Garrard has made this a two-man race; Tanney outplayed Moore (in one game). They are supposedly very close as far as who is the more productive. If the same thing happens in the 2nd game, why not anoint Tanney the starter? Moore isn't doing anything that put him above and beyond Tanney, plus....if Moore is that good, why did Miami go after Garrard?
Anyway, Miami doesn't have any Super Bowl aspirations for this season, so why not start Tanney?

I'm not the one attacking people's post when they say he has potential.
I said Tannehill clearly "wasn't ready" and you jokers go on the offensive.
Its not that you can argue that he was ready - which he is not. Its just that you don't like people reminding you of the truth. That being that Tannehill will be a backup all season long.
But what really doesn't look good is the rest of the team. Last night's performance was putrid. This team needs a lot of work.
Dolph- preseason doesnt mean much, but it surely isnt impressive when your offense only puts up 7 points all game... And clueless people are bragging about the offense and Qb's....really... 7 points? and you all are excited about exactly what? That we threw the ball 50 times and only scored once.. ok great, I am gonna go have a party to celebrate, and we should put Tannehill and Phiblin in the ring of honor before next weeks game..lol..smh.....

Come on dude! Give these guys a break!
There hasn't been anything to get excited about regarding the QB position in ... Forever!
Just because we're seeing size, smarts, athleticism, speed, and a great arm, all combined in our 1st round(#8 overall),rookie QB, we're not ready to put him in RING OF HONOR! We're just excited and optimistic that we may have finally found someone that has LEGIT potential to be special. That's all!!
Too many people being negative just to be negative. Some kind of weird defense mechanism or something. Whatever...

Who is "you all"?
Maybe two people were excessively excited about Tannehill's performance. Most seem to be in the "it was encouraging" mode.

Its a tough line to walk.
I get where guys like Crowder and DolphinKing are coming from when they say peoples reactions to tannehill should be tempered by realistic reactions to what he does based on the circumstances and who he's playing against. And you are right that they are often overly negative to the point of absurdity.
Clearly the vast majority of people on this site are optimistic about Tannehill and encouraged by his play and the trajectory of his development to date. But very very few are over the top in their reaction towards him be it positive or negative.
That said, this team has a long way to go before the season starts.
Tampa looked weeks ahead of Miami. They were more physical and came to play. Miami looked flat and unmotivated.
Flat and unmotivated is not what you want in preseason. If this keeps up for the next couple of preseason games, it does not bode well for when the games do mean something.
What has been the Dolphins problem for the last 2 years...Redzone offense and scoring TD. What was the problem last night? same thing... Nothing to be overly encouraged about at this point.... If the offense put the ball in the endzone, like they need to I would me much more encouraged about last night then I am... I wasnt dissappointed in Tannehill, but I was dissappointed with the team...

It will take a while. This team has the same fundamental issues it had last year - Players make dumb mistakes at the wrong time, and we've yet to find players that step it up in the red zone.
This will take more than a new scheme and new coach. It will take players realizing they need to take things up a notch.

I didn't like what I saw from Tannehill at the end of the half. Yes, Roberto Wallace should have had the TD catch, but it wasn't a great pass. RTs first pass on that goal to go series was inaccurate - in the ground when the receiver was wide open. His third down pass was not only NOT near the goal line, it was also a pick 6 - had the defender not been a third stringer. And the forth down pass was right out of Henne's playbook: need four yards, so pass for two.
Finally, I'm sick of seeing players celebrate after getting a first down mid field, when they can't even put the ball in the end zone.
That is Tony Sparano's culture. I hope the coaching staff gets on those players.
Yeah I agree it wasnt perfect, but Tannehill had a couple of passes that were special, something I havent seen a QB make in a Dolphins uniform in a while... My expectations arent as high as everbody else on the guy, so I wasnt dissapointed in him.. I liked his pocket presence and how he ran the offense..
Roberto Wallace looked like he belonged... The play action roll out to clay Tannehill ran on 2nd and 1 was sweet . The back shoulder pass to Pruitt was sweet. But as you said, alot the same fundamental problems. Drive the ball fify yards then make a couple dumd mistakes and get nothing out of it...
Besides Bush in the first drive, our run game was pretty much nonexistent as well...

and a perfect TD pass the tannehill makes it 14 points and 2 missed fieldgoals makes it 20 points....
And our receivers stinking a dropping balls like chad johnson and the receiver who dropped the pass in the endzone who i dont even want to know his name...

God the next thing dolphanking says that doesnt make sense please STRIKE HIM DOWN. Please?
Debbie Downer and a wet blanket both think DK has a negative attitude.
But that may have come from years of Charlie Brown optimism, only to get Lucy-ed by midseason. Laying flat on your back, staring up at the ceiling disappointed and ashamed, again! I feee ya DK. We all feee ya.
Now, let's try to bring good attitudes to our little support group if we can.

What are you talking about... There is always an excuse for failing to score. Henne had a lot of reasons why he failed to score! it doesn't mean anything. You either scored or u didn't, we didNt , same as last year.
A perfect td pass. It doesn t even sound like we watched the same football game...

Its really not worth arguing about this but there was nothing wrong with that throw on the TD that was overturned.
Even the announcers from TB changes their mind. They originally thought it was a bad throw that fluttered...until they saw the replay.
It was right where it needed to be with a DB right on top of Wallace...just above the knees....right on the money...nice spiral. You hit him in the stomach or the numbers with that pass and the DB reaches around and bats it away.
Wallace has to catch that ball even more than Johnson has to catch that wide open 3rd down conversion on the first drive.
Yes not scoring is a team issue. But its not a QB issue when he makes the right read, the right throw and the WR just drops it.
Yeah the same thing happened to Henne alot.... Almost, close, doesn't count in football... It wasn't a perfect pass it was low. It wasn't bad either it was just to low.. I don't want to here excuses, it either happens or it doesn't.. It didn't.......I give the guy credit for a couple of really special throws , I didn't feel remotely the same way about that pass, not sure why you did the way it is being described around here... Not sure

He sure wasn't helped by those around him, that's for sure.

True,. but we aren't talking about who won or lost, we are talking about evaluating how a young QB played. All they can do is make the right read and deliver a good pass. After that, its out of their hands...

We are going to disagree on this one. That throw was right where it needed to be. Mid thigh, back hip because the defender was on his lead shoulder. Any pass above the waist or out in front gets batted away by the DB.
Good read...good throw.

Not saying it was special. Just a good read and a good throw. Not much more the QB could have done in that spot. Should have been caught.

No it wasnt a slow duck...It was a perfect pass thrown in the only spot where the receiver could catch it.
