The Chicago Bears bringing in Brandon Marshall to reunite with his buddy Jay Cutler... hahahaha

Wait eesti that sounds racist surely Tavaris is a great QB isn't he just ask him? I tried telling everyone who would listen that guy couldn't hit a horse's ass with a saddle if you gave him three tries, but somehow he has started in this league WTF? I wonder if Flynn is really in a battle or is their head coach in love with Tavaris, and his intangibles. Makes me wonder what has Pete Caroll been buying off of his ex-players and smoking.

Y'all be careful now ... one might think the FO slipped up and made a good decision by passing on Matt Flynn ... that could be catastrophic.
Scuze the sarcasm, but could it be that Ireland got one right, and or that Philbin and Ireland and the FO got on the same page and ducked the heat by the media to select him?
It would have been easy to fold to the pressure and have signed him ... but they didn't on the heels of criticism over not landing Manning either.
It really is okay ... if in retrospect that teh FINS FO gets a few right.

That is revisionist. The FO didn't "pass" on Matt Flynn. They tried quite hard to land him, and got outbid and outfoxed at the last minute. The same for Manning, who I think will prove to be playing about one season longer than he should (if he makes it that far).
The fact that the FOs third choice is as good as choice #1 at a far lower salary and significantly outperforming choice #2 shows that this FO doesn't know how to evaluate value well.
Gerrard's success only illustrates Irelands deficiency.
we would have signed flynn had he been willing to accept our offer. SEA offered him a lot more money. but we chose not to overpay him, which is looking like a good thing to the extent flynn isn't starter material on SEA

If we had signed Flynn, we would have not signed Gerrard.
The media had the fins as locks to pay him whatever he wanted, and a lot of pressure to sign him in the wake of not Landing Manning, or Fisher etc ...
The FO / Ireland had the stones to offer only what they saw he was expected to be worth ... some criticized them for this.
At the time no one even knew of Tannehill would be available at 8th, discussions of people wanting the FINS to reach up to 3rd blah blah.
It was a good move to not over pay for him. It was also a good move to get Garrard, and that too was criticized by many.
All that said ... It looks good now and I can smile for a while, but one thing I do agree with DK on ... I'd like to see some results on the field in the regualr season to make it meaningful.
(Doesn't mean that I can't acknowledge what looks positive in the interim). However this team and its fans have had its share of dissappointments so I can relate with some having reservations until they see the proof.
Ireland was also criticized (prob by me) for not going all out for Orton but he low balled him as well and look at where both of these QB's are at right now....backups.

Seriously? Tannehill was expected to be available at 38. It wasn't until close to the draft, when everyone realized the Dolphins were going to reach, that the "prognosticators" moved Tannehill up.

That would have been a good move if we wanted a blue chip QB.

Shows ignorance of the fans. Just one look at his numbers and you see a legit starting QB. The only reason Jax let Gerrard go was because of his injury and they were rebuilding. Last year, Gerrard was going to get the surgery no matter what and Jax didn't want to pay him in a backloaded contract.

Don't forget, Jax got Henne! Doesnt' that make Gerrard expendable?

dolfanking, there is absolutely no one, within 1 month of the draft (probably longer), who thought tannehill would be taken in the 2d round. If I am wrong, give me an example, because I never heard that.

so your 1st two have RT going in the top 12 overall. The 3d is the bleacher report written by the nerds with keyboards living in their mom's basement you talk about, and they have our 2d round pick Jon Martin going in the top 15. The last one if from Feb, never heard of the website but they have us taking Martin in the 1st round. This hardly proves your point that within 1 month of the draft RT was plausibly going to be taken in the 2d round. If we didn't take him, he may have gone to SEA but surely wouldn't have fallen past CLE at 22, if not sooner.

Its hard to find old mock drafts that haven't been updated. Like I said, most draft prognosticators will update as soon as they get some info.
If you can't accept that half the ones I could find don't even mention Tannehill in the first round, then there is probably no way you are going to accept that Tannehill was a second round talent. Not my problem.
the question isn't whether he had second round talent (given his lack of experience). plenty felt that he did, even the day of the draft. the question is whether, as you said, he'd have been there in the second round on the day of the draft. and I am saying that no one thought that would be the case. It wasn't that long ago, and I actually, you know, remember.

Yep - hiring Joe Philbin and not the other guy that coaching the Rams. Dolphins our now starting to catch up to modern football and it took them some time. Hiring Parcells set us back 5 years allthough it did teach us how to build a defensive line...
