I didnt even realize this was published. As soon as I walked in the door from work today my wife was giving me the evil stare. I asked her why she was looking at me like that and she showed me that article and asked why I did that face in the picture. LOL.

Wow, thank goodness you were willing to swim 100 yards instead of watching a 7 year old girl drown. Otherwise, how would you have been able to contact a newspaper and have yourself recognized? Good work

If he didn't contact the newspaper, then who did? It's just unusual for the girl who was rescued and her parents not to be part of the article. That family should be singing his praises.

Truth, weak is your story about turning down an opportunity to walk on at quarterback at Tulane University and that being that greatest disappointment of your life. It's Tulane football.

I totally agree with THE Truth. I'm very surprised that you would show skepticism without any basis, Hokie Phin. Moreover why would the newspaper or military newspaper or any news outlet print the story without verification. And as for the family of the little girl not participating in the article, using my lawyer's reasoning, 1) the little girl is too small and 2) the family was no doubt embarrassed that their child was so far out to sea and they didn't even know and 3) the newspaper had the good taste not to press the issue.
Good job A&O...people should be greatful when things like this happen but alas, that's not how society works these days.
I have saved at least five lives over the past twelve years and only one time received any kind of kudos for the effort...thanks, are of course not why I did any of it, but it would've been nice.
In fact, once I got this from my boss, "you shouldn't have done that, you could have gotten hurt yourself." (WTF?)
Now as I remember Hokie and A & O have clashed about football many times. However, that is a petty difference in light of this event.
A & O and I have also clashed, particularly when Ghotirule was here. However, this is real life stuff. Not internet chatboard crap. Even if THE Truth were to have done this, I would be praising him in the same manner.
