thumbs up

Nothing Walker wrote about was wrong or hateful.

I'd have a lot more problem if he wrote that we should expect to see Tannehill start, 85 go 100+/1000+, and the WCO will take the AFC East by surprise. That is a fan fantasy, at best that is speculative, at worse an outright disconnection from reality.

It is hardly lazy to look at the team objectively. It actually takes work to realistically view what we have.

I've questioned the team's management on this site and have been called a troll, stupid, Jet fan, etc. I've never seen a comment from a mod about this.

But it don't bother me, I don't take it personally.

I do take satisfaction in the fact that, by being realistic and objective in view my team, I seem to upset people a lot more than the meaningless names they call me.

DolfanKing, the moderator was just giving mizzou and I a friendly tone it down and JC is great guy and fair moderator, I was just pointing out that the name calling started way before mizzou or I responded.. It doesnt bother me, we all are die hards dolphins fans, on a great message board with great posters whether i agree with them or not. We are a bit football deprived in the duldrums of summer anxiously awating some real football, and to not have espn clogged up with baseball highlights and talk...

To give him a relatively SMALL paycheck--I'd say we signed him with the #3 to #5 slot in mind. Do you really think he'll be our number 1 receiver? That's the question I am asking. If he does, I'll gladly eat my hat--of course I want him to do well now that he's wearing aqua and orange (or whatever they change our logo/colors to).

Then it must be agony for you to be on any message board in the entire universe, especially anyone having anything to do with sports....I mean we're way better than 98% of them out there, but imagine what it's like to moderate one!

Why should I go 'asked' them when you know so much? No you don't *have to* explain anything. I just thought since you defended the guy's column you might be able to explain that point about 85 he made. that's all.

Thanks Crowder, you are a great guy too. You've taken some unpopular stances in the past, (naming your handle after Crowder, being pro-UF, and pro-Tebow). That takes guts and is admired.

And I wasn't questioning that point...I'm the first one to say "who cares" when there's a no-respect prediction about us, I've been saying I could care less for years. But the guy thinks Chad is expected to be the #1 receiver, I just don't see it. That's not the columnist just predicting us to suck, it's him going way out on a limb and makes him look like he doesn't know what he's talking about. If this were 10 years ago, yeah he'd be a contender for the #1 slot but I don't think so at this point in his career. I hope I'm wrong though because that'll mean we got Chad for a steal *and* he produced very well.

Not posters....columnists. The columnists can be lazy, stupid etc. almost all of them think we suck, are going to suck, etc. For another one to do the same is not very enlightening, so I noticed his point about Chad and sought some backup about that particular sentence of his.

thanks JC, I appreciate it, those stances were peanuts, compared to the daily lashings I took being pro- owner in the CBA negotiations....lol

I started an interesting debate very heated at times. Their is no way the bills are better than we are. I'm sorry to burst your bloated ego sports dummy, but we killed them both games last year. And I feel this year we have a more talented roster than they have with far better coaching. So say what you want Walker too me is an idiot with a mouse, and a job unfortunately.

I don't really have a problem with what Walker writes. I don't agree with it all the time but he's covering things from a national perspective. He's not going to worry about his relationships with the team and front office or access as much as a beat guy is.

There are a lot of question marks surrounding this team going into this season.

Its not like past seasons where we had obvious holes and nobody there to fill them. Now its more like we have young players filling those wholes who may or may not step up.

Sure there are reasons for optimism on many of those fronts but nothing is guaranteed and I can't fault a guy with no skin in the game as a beat writer for taking a gloomy out look. I think its perfectly reasonable to project anywhere fro 5-10 wins for this team. There's and awful lot that would have to go very right to get 10 wins. But there just as much that would have to go horribly wrong to get 5.

Like most things in life, the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

His Bio:
James Walker
Walker joined ESPN.com in 2008 after four seasons covering the NFL and NBA for the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch. He's a Temple graduate and Hyattsville, Md. native who lives in Miami.

Wonder how he got a job in miami?

I think he looks for garbage.
Haven't seen anything insightful come out of him, and most of it is slanted negative from what you can pick up from other writers vs any real insight or knowledge.

To date he has earned the status of a "Dingleberry"

That would be Bob "Jock Sniffing" Glauber who ranked this team 32nd best in the league. How many ways can you say that this man has a deep love affair with all of the AFC east teams that play well you guys know where. What a freaking glue sniffing dumb ass.

For the first half of the season, I think Walker will be right - this will be the worst offense in AFC East. Too many changes, and too many holes. I expect struggling.

If, in the second half of the season, this offense doesn't at least have an output better than the Jets, I will be surprised. I still think the Patriots offense will blow the division away. The Bills may be better than us, or the Bill may go Buffalo Bills and just totally suck for no good reason.

In any event, I'm looking at the last half of the season as the barometer for this team in the future.

I can't help but notice how similar Walker's AFC East blog format resembles the JETS theme.

So to his articles it seems.

Check out the difference in hearing from an unbiased source on Miami's camp from Peter King vs. the negative talk from Walker.

Peter King reiterates the points I've been mentioning in Philbin's fast pace, stratgey and the morale of the team.

This guy has been around all the camps and comes away with a totally different and more positive perspective ... Why?

He's not a Jets homer like James Walker.

Could be that walker has never been to practice.

He doesn't cover the team, he cover the division/league.

King is a very popular writer so he hits all the camps to satisfy his readers.

I think walker just reads the Internet and the writes his opinions based on what he "hears". Kinda like us.

FYI- Walker slammed the Jets yesterday as well..... Peter King had alot of questions about the team as well, if you listened to his whole interview. Peter King is a national insider, James Walker doesnt get the access and one on ones with the coaches/ players like Peter Kings does. If he wants to keep that access, he better not be to harsh on the team's that give him open access.

Definately, Peter King can go into places where Walker gets stopped at the gate. This disparity shows in their articles.

IMO One of the interesting things that King said yesterday, was that he worries about the 4-3's impact on Cam Wake, and believes the Dolphins will have to adjust the scheme to better fit Wake's skills...

His point, in the 3-4, Wake just has to get around the Tackle on the edge with his speed. That was well suited for Wake. In a 4-3 Wake is going to have more players to get through and be working more in traffic., with the tackle and TE or somes times the tackle and guard... He thinks that is not Wakes specialty, he is a speed edge rusher. Putting him in traffic could reduce his effectiveness, and believes the coaches will have to adjust to put him more situations that fit his style rather then what the 4-3 normally does for a DE. It will be interesting to see how that pans out...

Peter King has earned his respect, and thus access.

Walker typlifies the thing I hatre about many reporters, and mentioned above in Truth;s comments. Walker comes across as a guy who reads other internet articles and tries to make it sound like he's making an opinion, when he's not in the know, just regurgitating or slanting bits of info from others and calling it his.

He has not passed th giggle test with credibility with me and slips more each time I read his stuff.
