Any chance the Dolphins give him a look see? He is a true Miami local...305 guy. Is he done?

He wasn't smart enough to learn the NE offense. That's why he was released. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Can't get past the fact that a guy would give up his family name for a jersey number.

He did that to say F U to the NFL and the commissioner. I actually think that was the coolest thing he ever did in his career.

He was wearing Ocho Cinco stuff on his uniform , placing it in different spots to promote it (I think he did a clothing line under that name) and the NFL started to fine him and banned his usuage of it. He changed his last name legally to it just so he could now emblazen it on the back of his Jersey and they couldn't say shit. Stupid, but funny IMO. drinking smileythumbs up

If he doesnt have a good year with brady as the qb....Imagine what kind of a year he will have with scrub matt moore or scrub gerard.

At least marshall played well at times....But over the hill 8----5 stinks and is still a pain in the @$$ just like marshall.

Whoever signs 8____5 look out for those on field tantrums.

He may be a distraction and is a diva. He hasn't really caused trouble like T.O. but he is a loud mouth and a glory hound. Personally I don't have a problem with him.

He may stunt the growth of our young WR's who are trying to step up. We have Hartline and Gates who are 4th round picks that we need to get better. Another WR will take reps from these guys.

Cincy with Palmer and Cj and Bratkowski as OC did not run anything close to a WCO.

The WCO is not easy to learn for a WR. CJ failed in NE and couldn't learn that system so why would anyone think he could learn this one?

Assuming he has anything left, he's a 1 year player for us.

This is a transitional year for us offensively, and our young QB will either get some developmental experience this year or be expected to take over next year.

So what's the point of adding a guy who is on his last legs, has no familiarity with the system we are installing and won't be here next year?

Frankly, I'd rather take a shot a developing a young guy who might be around to help out after this season.

Donald Driver is one thing, he'd be a coach in the huddle and a team leader.

"The player formerly known as Chad Johnson" has very little to offer this team.

Well apparently the Dolphins are going to give him a workout this week. This is going to be interesting.

This confuses me. If we are in a "rebuilding mode" as most insiders suggest, and is apparent to any fan with eyes, why would we workout this guy? Why sign an aging veteran at this position?

Who knows? Maybe 85 could teach younger recievers like Gates something about route running, blocking , getting an edge. He was a Diva but never really a trouble maker . Maybe this off season has humbled him.

Then again maybe not...........

If you absolutely suck with Tom Brady as your QB, you should just hang them up.

I can't see him helping us during the season-but maybe as a body in camp-a body that would attract cameras.

That is what Stephen Ross is all about. It doesn't matter if the team wins as long as the cameras are on it.

85 rep is that he is not a disciplined route runner and often improvised in Cincy. That doesn't bode well for the WCO.

It will be interesting to see what the staff thinks of him. I have a feeling it will go in the books as nothing more than due dilligence....kicking the tires so to speak.

Why even give him a look. I disagree about even giving him another look or bringing him in for a workout.

I have to admit that's one f**king good post I'd say!

Besides the fact it's 100% right on.

I believe you misunderstand me. I mean, 85 would draw much attention away from other players and coaches, allowing them more room to manuever. I think some coaches and players are not totally on board with this TV show, so a redirection of media attention to this guy would have a welcome sort of "lightening rod" effect.

oh YEAH that's what this is about. The TV Show. He's only being brought in because of Hard Knocks. this is all theater.

Sure, but Ross is also cheap, so he won't pay much. Ocho Cinco will need to add a decimal point to his name (Ocho punto Cinco or 8.5) drinking smiley

Yeah and the last stage of the negotiations will require him removing the "n" from that second word.
