"It's been fun to get the reaction of visiting coaches to the color of their locker room. Most don't notice it, but those that do are in trouble. . . . When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I've got him. I can't recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.” Hayden Fry
in all of the times we tried to get someone else's backup/marginal starter to be the guy here, has it ever worked?
feidler was the only one who had any success, and that's as good as it got. ray lucas? aj feeley? brian gresie? gus frerrotte (OK he wasn't horrible)? culpepper? let's stop polishing other people's trash and call them our starting QB and develop one of our own.
He took care of 'da U' last week. 20 TD's 4 picks, mobile 589 yards rushing (including sacks) 4 TD's. He beat the crap out of UNC and Yates. He'll be ACC player of the year. He is short, but he is taller than Drew Brees and Troy Smith. Being a fan of the ACC, you don't know too much about the conference. Who are the 4 acc QB's better than TT?
561 you have fallen and bumped your head, if you think we should look at any of those guys! There is this guy by the name Henne that is already on our roster. There is no problem at QB! There is a big problem at OC. Most OCs would call plays to a QBs strengths not Henning. Henning needs to be OC for some college team.
to anyone who knows---what's the deal with tyler yates? the few times I've seen him play he looks really good and puts up monster numbers but most seem to think he's horrible. is he any good and does he have any pro potential?

You must be blind or an out-of-market fan. HENNE SUCKS! Ok lets see, he was a 4 year starter at Michigan, had a chance to watch a PLAYOFF team (believe it or not) in his rookie year, basically had a full year to learn the offense and prepare for this year and what does he do? SAME MISTAKES OVER & OVER & OVER. I have seen ZILCH ZERO flashes of brilliance from Henne to the exception he played decently against the Jets on Sunday Night this year. Ok 1 game
- Continues to force the ball over and over to Hartline. WHY?!?
- Cant throw a screen pass to save his life
- Has had plays where he had ALL DAY to throw but yet cant seem to find ANYBODY except his wimpy 1/2 yard "scamper". Its like watching a refrigerator trying to run. Cant remember him making a big play with that much time
- Has his best buddy Jake Long protecting his blind side and from a mental aspect of view should be a HUGE factor, but HARDLY is
- Throws into double coverage more times than none
The guy SUCKS and if you actually think he is capable of leading this team to a Super Bowl, or even the playoffs for that matter you're sadly mistaken.
Trent Edwards=Chad Henne

Im not necessarily saying we should sign T. Smith, Hill, or Dixon to be our starter, but I think they could definitely compete in training camp. I would like to see us go QB 1st round if the right guy is there.
Troy Smith has been VERY solid in 3 games with the 49ers in really his first look at the NFL (started 2 games in Baltimore, played pretty well), not to mention FAST! This guy could be deadly in the Wildcat
And as Phinsfan2 said - I like the upside and potential Dixon has as well ala coming up in the Pittsburgh system for a few years. Another guy who is FASTTT
Hill I dont really care about to the exception hes had a few decent games. Back up?

Christian Ponder SUCKS
quite possibly the most overrated QB in the nation, seriously
how about chad henne .......... hes only gonna get better ..... hes got a gun ........... the problem with our ownership throughout the years , particularly wayne hipinga ...... is he listened to our idiotic fans .....

Well to be honest, Lucas only got what five games. Hardley enough to judge him of his ability. Feeley, he got only a handfull of game too. Griese, again only a handfull of games, Frerrote, limited by injury...Phin fans are waaaaaaay too quick to waive the bust flag and say a quarterback isn't good enough before the jury is finished deliberating.
I do agree with drafting players...but the fans (and every coach since Shula and Wannstedt) are never content to allow development from quarterbacks on this team.
I've said it before, since Chad Henne cannot deliver a TD on every offensive, defensive, and special teams play, he is a failure. I want multiple touchdowns every second, or he sucks. Plain and simple.
We should draft another QB because it will make me feel better as an out-of-touch football fan. I know it won't help in the long run because not every single successful QB comes ready-to-rock straight out of the box, but I don't have the time or patience to sit on my couch and do nothing for years. I have internet message boards to troll.
I expect this team to deliver me a SuperBowl victory on the back of some QB in his early 20's who is so good that he throws more TD passes than he has passing attempts. It's an incredible statistic that defies physics, but I don't care simply because I know more about these football players than the coaching staff does, or ever will.

RE: Yes and what about Peyton Manning the other night? He's been a great player for years and yet he still threw key interceptions and what about Eli, same thing, and how about Carson Palmer against the Jets last night...forced balls, overthrows, interceptions, same mistakes over and over. Teams should get rid of all of them because they oviously can't stop making mistakes.
I have seen ZILCH ZERO flashes

RE: Henne has shown some flashes but the limitations of the system and our offensive players, our play calling, injuries, and other factors have caused Henne to strggle more than he could be...That said he has made his share of mistakes but he should improve if and when the coaches get him some help and as he gets more playing time to further develop.
>
> - Continues to force the ball over and over to

RE: Because Marshall is double and triple covered, Bess can't get open quickly, Ronnie and Ricky are usually asked to block someone and Fasano is hot and cold and rops the ball quite often. Beyond that the coaches are calling routes that take too long to develop and the O-line is a wreck. if he doesn't throw to Hartline...who is he supposed to throw to? I do agree that he should nt be forcing the ball but if the receivers are not getting open what is he supposed to do? He can't very well throw the ball away or try to run on every pass play.

RE: He has to throw to someone...we don't have receivers that are fast enough to beat double coverage. Even Marshall can't do it all and make big plays all of the time...we need speed on offense, and we don't have it...our fastest receiver runs a 4.52/40...thats not enough all by itself.

RE: I disagree completely. I think he can BUT he needs better help. Marshall was a step in the right direction but we need much more speed at the offensive skill positions.
A better comparisson whould be Phil Simms = Chad Henne at this point in his development.

Even Michigan fans will tell you Henne sucks. If you can remember they were begging to bench Henne in favor of then freshman-Ryan Mallett in his SENIOR year. How long are we gonna let this guy "develop"??? 'til he retires? I promise you this guy will never get better than he already is (which is slim to none). I think its pretty obvious that we all agree Henning needs to go but it doesnt matter if we have a reincarnated Vince Lombardi calling plays...the guy has way to many flaws and you have to be blind to not see and notice it. 0% "IT" factor
