Lol. I know. I called my pops today and asked him if Murtha was white or black, he said, "pretty sure he is a black guy".
We had a good laugh thinking about not knowing his skin color and him being on the team for years. LOL!
What does it matter if he were red , and from Mars as long as he can play and is a decent person I don't care about what they look like. I care about how they play, and how much they can help us win.

Lol, really!? You sure bout that big'un!?
But I course, I dot care myself. I just thought it was funny that I (for 3 years now) thOught he was a black dude.
Hell no I'm not joining any rainbow coalition or gay movements lets get that straight no pun intended. However too me one needs diversity on a football team, and I believe is adds to the character of the team to have the right balance of players who genuinely like each other as opposed to what ones skin color is. Now do I want to watch BYU or Air Force all the time no, but I don't enjoy watching SEC teams with mostly all black line ups either. A balanced roster does help with team cohesion I think as well as making sure the fan base is happy. But too me as long as we win we can have 53 Samoans, and I'm down with that. I am just tired of freakiing losing. It just plain SUCKS.
LOL. Didn't know about the guy either but the name looked White to me.
From our side of it, Murtha is not too common in the Black community. Ha. Ha. We tend to be named after Presidents. Johnson, Jackson, Washington, Jefferson, etc. And if not that, then other Anglo Saxon names such as Smith, Howard, Williams. Most Blacks took the names of Slave owners at the time of emanicaption.
Slavery was ended before the mass influx of Poles, Italians, Germans, and other non-English Europeans into America. As such other names are really not too common in our community unless changed and adopted in the 60's, probably to an African name.
And Lydon, really????? That's only one letter away from Lyndon. That's totally White to me.
Now, Lydell, that might be a Black person if I saw the name. Hey. Wasn't there a Lydell Mitchell? A Colt?

Yes Lydell mitchell was a running back for the Colts. I remember him causing some trouble for the Phins back in the 70s. He was a good running back.
Errol was a white name, and I know a black fellow named Errol Flynn who neither white nor Irish nor catholic for that matter. Man their was so much race mixing back in the day that I met a distant relative of Stone wall Jackson the famous confederate general that was a mixed race, but mostly black fellow in the town where I live. Now old Stonewall must be thinking WTF did I die in that damn war for anyway lol. The point is who really cares at this point just as long as they take care of their own and are productive memebers of society really.
Well he does because well many reasons lets start with this one how can we be made in his image, and all of us be so different looking? Makes you wonder just what in the heck he does look like if in fact we could see him?
Finshady, for all the different nationalities and races in the human race, if you ask a bear or a fish, they'd say we humans pretty much all look identical to them.
If you ask the dog, he'd say the same thing. The dog, who counts among his number both the Chihuahua and the Great Dane. Now talk about a difference!
I know what you saying we all for the most part have 2 legs, and arms and the rest of it. But damn their are some very different looking people throught the globe that one has to assume that the almighty does have a sense of humor.
It's more than that, Finshady. Kangaroos have 2 legs and 2 arms. Dogs have 4 legs but so do cats and no one would mistake one for the other. It's more like the Black Bear and the Polar bear. The color of the fur is the only significant difference.
Edited to delete link that changed cartoons from 6-4 to 6-5.
The cartoon, for which I could not find a permanent link, had God and an Angel standing on clouds and looking at the Earth as a planet in the distance.
God confides to the angel, "Truth be known, if it weren't for dogs, I would have blown the whole thing up years ago."

I saw the tatoo up close yesterday while seated two rows behind Murtha at the movie theatre at Sawgrass. He's a tall guy and hard to miss in a crowd. He was sporting a Dolphin cap and T shirt too. He's a fan like us.
