From an Adam Shefter tweet....not an eesti prediction.

“Miami likes Tannehill too much and he knows too much of the Dolphins offense, and it’s not like Bob Griese is manning the fort,” wrote Schefter. ”Matt Moore is capable of winning some games, but Miami sees Tannehill as a long-term solution at the position. If Tannehill doesn’t wind up starting at some point this season, it would be a disappointment for the Dolphins and a sign that their pick wasn’t as good as they think.”

Wow, I hear what you are saying, King, and I am not necessarily disagreeing with you. Yes, I am well aware that the playbook that RT was handed is basically the same one that RT had in college. So, he has not only got that part of it down, he also pretty much has the new stuff down, also.

I also know that the speed of the NFL game is quite different than that of college. ALL QBs get that indoctrination immediately. It will take time for all of them.

I also know that RT was inconsistent in college, but that pretty much comes with his inexperience. Once he gets on the field with
"live" action, he (hopefully) will play thru it.

Agree again that RT will get on the field depending on how the other QBs are playing, which also goes along with how the whole team is playing. That's what I have been saying. But how can you give your bold statement that he won't get on the field in 2012? Neither of us knows that, and neither does the coaching staff.

It's not that I am not believing you; it's that no one, at this particular time, knows if RT will be on the field or not. All I am saying is that he has as good a chance as anyone to be on the field at some time during the season.

I hope you don't come on here and beat your chest if RT does not get on the field, just as I won't come on here if he does, and brag about it.

One difference between the two of us is that you fully believe RT will not get on the field; I, on the other hand, believe that it is possible he could get on the field.

I agree with your approach CaptKoi, but I think RT, will get on the field this year at some point... They spent a number 8 pick on him, that puts extra pressure to get him on the field sooner then later. If he was picked in the second rd, I think he would likely sit out a season like Henne did or have less pressure to produce earlier... If Garard or Moore light it up, and we are winning they obviously will not pull a winning QB mid season. So there are alot of factors going on, but #8 pick and lagging ticket sales. There is going to be alot of pressure to play him if we are not competitive with the other guys at the position. Do I think he is ready, not from what I saw last year, which is basically all we have to go on at this point...
What we know about him will change alot after preseason when we get to see him take some snaps with this team playing football against other NFL teams.

Yes, he was the #8 pick, which puts a lot of pressure both on him and the brain trust. But, based on that alone, I don't think that will be reason enough to put him out there. I am quite sure the coaching staff is hoping they don't have to start him, because they would prefer he gain more knowledge and experience and not throw him to the wolves too early, but if things aren't going well.....

I think the ticket sales have gone up this season with the hopes that the fans will, at some point, see their future QB. If the team does well even without him playing a down, then I forsee ticket sales going up even more next season in anticipation that he will be the starter in 2013.

I agree; with his lack of college experience, RT is not ready AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME. That doesn't mean he won't be ready at some point in the season. But, I still wouldn't start him unless things just aren't going well with the other QBs, or it is getting close to the end of the season and the Fins are going nowhere. At that point, why not start him?

Gerrard will be the starter. He had to sit out last year due to injury, but in 2010 he posted a 90+ passer rating on a team with basically no legit receivers (you think we had it bad).

Right now he's the best QB we've had since Pennington.

Not that it matters but I thought that quote was from Ireland, not Sherman?

@BenVolinPBP: RT @AdamSchein: Garrard on Tannehill.."First time I've been in a meeting room where the rookie knows the offense better than the veterans."

I can't look it up right now but that whole quote sounds like Ireland's post draft press conference.

“I firmly believe that Ryan Tannehill will end up being the best quarterback out of this draft class,” said Evans, referring to the trio of quarterbacks taken in the first round.

“I think we’ve seen Andrew Luck’s best,” Evans said. “You’ve got to remember, this guy was coached by Jim Harbaugh for years, so he’s NFL-ready. He’s NFL-groomed.”

As quoted by Heath Evans...

You could definitely say that about Big Ben over Eli and Rivers. It could happen!

Id be happy if tannehill turns out like any of the 3, ben eli rivers.
We would have some hope if that happens.
