Give me a break....95% of the main online web sites had RT going number 8 to Miami. Not middle of the 1st or 2nd round. NFL, CBS, ESPN, CNNSI...yada yada yada

It didn't take Carnac to know who Miami would pick 6 weeks before the draft. Our GM really is that clueless. But RT wasn't going at 8 back in January. Not when we were thinking Peyton or trying to trade up for RG3.

Do you respect Gil Brandt, Todd McShay, Jon Gruden, and Greg Cosell? Just wondering.

What were these guys saying in January?

BTW, do you respect yourself? Seriously, the way ride the fence, and flip flop when it suits you,and get into arguments for no reason, and call people names with nearly zero provocation.... one has to wonder.

Why would I answer your obviously loaded question?

Do I respect you?

I could care less if you do, I didnt ask you.

But see, your obviously loaded closed mindedness, is too obvious. You prove my point by acting the way you are.

BTW, I gave you my answer to your question back at me, when you asked if I knew what they said in January. I said no, only that I knew what they said close to the draft.

Either way, I dont need your answer. Its oblivious. Your attitude is as clear as a sunny day.

Then obviously the difference between you and I is that I could care less what you think. Sorry, you pretty much lost all my good will with the name calling and such. Hard for me to see you as anything other than a disrespectful little punk that doesn't deserve a straight answer.

Somehow I doubt you have the perception or insight to credibly make this statement. Either this is more of your flame bait or it is simply a fools arrogance on your part.

Really!? Because that's not what Jeff Ireland echoed a week or so ago. And he is the "FO".

Also I never predicted RT will start week one and come in the league and tear it up. I have only seen one QB do that in the past 30 years.

I'm sure that when he gets his chance he is going to throw int's and have a few struggles as any rookie QB usually does. Same as Peyton Manning did...same as his brother did.

By the same token, I am hopeful that he also shows he has the "IT" factor and shows ability to lead and make plays...as Peyton and Eli did...Carson Palmer, Cam Newton, Phillip Rivers, Drew Brees etc.

I have said that I like him better than the other two jamokes. This is not only due to his athletic ability but the way he carries himself and his intelligence and dedication and love of the game.

I think Luck is a huge dork and not much different for RG3. I am happy we have RT as the new face of the franchise. Now he just have to prove he was worth it. We haven't drafted a QB in the first round since 1983 for craps sake. 29 years....How retarded is that?

Yes and no.

True, the coaching staff (and Ireland) figured RT would sit and learn his first year, but that was before they saw how he got a quick grasp on the playbook.

Granted, thus far, all anyone has seen is rookie camp, which doesn't mean a heck of a lot. If the other two don't play that well and RT does, I still say he will (probably) be starting sometime during the season.

A good example? Wilson in Seattle. They didn't think Wilson would be in the running for the starting job this early. Now, are they just blowing smoke up everyone's butt? I truthfully don't know, but that possibility is there.

He didn't get a quick grasp on the playbook. He got handed the same damn playbook he had in college, by the same coach that handed him the playbook in college.

It has been no secret to the staff that RT would have an early leg up on the Vets. But it won't take long for the Vets to catch up - and Philbin has stated this many times in his pressers.

The idea that knowing the playbook is going to give RT an edge against a veteran starting NFL QB who already has a ton of experience in the WCO is ludicrous. The only way the RT will start ahead is if somehow his on field performance exceeds the other two. Given his limited time in college, the speed of the NFL game, and the fact that he still has a lot of flaws in his game - that isn't going to happen.

But like I said, the FO and the coaching staff have all but admitted that RT will sit anyway. And if you don't believe me, or don't want to believe me, then when it happens perhaps I can just act like I know more than anyone. But seriously, I don't. I'm just believing what I read and see from the people running the team - not just what I feel like believing that day.

Its a bit more than just reading into it.

Looking at what the team is doing and saying - it is pretty obvious what the plan is. The only time you'll see RTT in the regular season will be with a clip board in his hand.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on Gerrard to start. He's got the most starting experience, and has won some big games on teams with moderate talent. He's nothing flashy, but exactly what is needed to install a new system. Because he's a seasoned vet, he will hit the huddle with immediate respect. And if he gets 7-9 wins this season, he will have done his job - part of which is to get fans excited about RTT NEXT YEAR.

You can either ignore it or embrace it. But to claim I don't have a right to say this --- that is ridiculous.

I agree it is going got be a tough competition. Gerrard is a good player and Matt Moore finished the year very efficiently. He basically came in late last year and came off the bench so the early inefficiencies were understandable.

The Dolphins as a whole did not respond to the offseason turmoil very well last year. The lack of leadership was obvious when veteran players showed up out of shape. They need that structure to get ready.

The more established teams had an advantage last year and it showed on the field.

This is probably the best group of QB's we have had in many years. I would feel comfortable with either of the two vets playing as I think they are pretty equal in ability. Gerrard in particular has had success on teams without big name wide-outs. Jax hasn't had great WR's since Jimmy Smith and K. McDardell. He never put up big numbers but was efficient.

That being said. RT has more potential/natural talent than either one of them IMO. Getting on the field is going to be determined by his ability to learn the things we discussed above...reading defenses and progressing in his decision making. It's going to be interesting to see if this staff can harness that talent. I do like our OC, HC and QB coach more than any we've had in recent years. I don't like Sherman as a HC but as an OC, he will be good.

Did Gerrard throw to Smith and McCardell?

I thought that was Mark Brunell.

2002 was Brunells last year as starter.

Leftwich played from 03 to 06

Gerrard took over in 06. Took over in 07 for good after BL was let go.

Jimmy Smith played until 05 where he had another 1k season.
