I've seen this come up on other threads, so I figured it would be interesting to see how people rate the QBs we've had since Dan. It's not really fair to include Tannehill yet, but maybe you guys will have an opinion about where he will eventually land.
Here is my top 5:
1. Chad Pennington (for the one year he was healthy)
2. Jay Fiedler (BEFORE he hurt his shoulder)
3. Gus Frerotte (the forgotten man. He was really good when he was here)
4. Matt Moore
5. Chad Henne
As for Tannehill, I think he'll make #2 on this list (because I'm only considering Penny's 11-win season...which was a miracle in itself). I think Tanny will be better than Fiedler. At least, I HOPE so!!
Maybe they love pennington because while he was here we were able to beat the jets. We even beat the jets the last game of the season on that playoff year to become the afc east champs.
As much as this hurts to say (and shows how terrible the position has been for us) Jay Fiedler is definantly better than Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Gus Frerrote, and due to only 1 season....better than Pennington too.
We won a playoff game with Fiedler, didn't with any of those other guys.
I can think of at least a couple of QBs that didn't get a fair shot to be great due to our frequent turn-over of coaches. AJ Feeley gets alot of heat here but was clearly developing as a very capable QB. This past season he led the hapless Rams to an impressive win over the Saints when Bradford went down. During his carreer he always seemed to land on teams with established franchise QBs.
And to think there was some genious commentator who said when john beck was drafted....that he was the perfect fit for the phins with his great accuracy and arm. WTF
I could be a commentator and i dont know jack...
I bet you i will hit a quite a few players as far as saying they will be superstars..
Just praise every dam one of them....Sooner or later im going to be right.
john beck was the worst. I will never forget that bills game when he Garo'd the pass and the bills returned it for a TD. They showed him on the sidelines after that and he looked completely terrified.

I put Henne there because of his number of starts, and the fact that we won at least 7 games each season he wasn't hurt. YOU try coming up with 5. Harrington? Lemon? Rosenfels? Thigpen? How would YOU rank them?

It was a tough choice for me. Penny's 11-win season was frigging amazing (wasn't he 2nd in MVP voting?), but I can see how, overall, Fiedler was better..when he was healthy. On the other hand, after his shoulder injury, Fiedler was horrible.

I think Smith was the reason we won that game. NOT Fiedler.

1) That Oakland game, one week after 9/11, where he scrambled at the end of the game for a touchdown and the win. Amazing.
2) The only home Fins game I have ever attended. We played Arizona when they had Emmitt Smith. We had one last chance at a hail mary and Fiedler threw this duck that went about 35 yards. It was the worst hail mary pass I have ever seen.
The worst starting QB we've ever had was...Dick Wood. The worst full time starter we've ever had was David Woodley. We went to the superbowl because of our defense and Don Strock coming off of the bench.
So here is the list: Best to worst.
1. Marino...obviously.
2. Griese...obiously.
3. Morrall
4. Feidler...even though after his first season I HATED him.
5. Pennington...because he only played one year.
6. Strock
7. Woodley
8. Moore
9. Henne
10. Frerotte
11. Feeley
12. B. Griese
13. Mitchell
14. DeBerg
15. Huard
16. Beck
17. Harrington
18. Lucas
19. Culpepper
20. Thigpen
21. Rosenfels
22. Lemon
23. Green
24. Kosar
25. Erikson
26. Norton
27. Mackey
28. Stofa
29. Mira
30. Wilson
31. Wood
So, to answer the OP the best since Marino would be Fiedler, then Pennington...then Moore.
