This could be interesting to say the least. Even with his family in S. Florida, I wonder what will happen when a team offers him more cash and more playing time. Interesting indeed.

It's not like we've done a whole lot to address our OLB position. In fact, we let go of one of our starters. So, I doubt another team can offer JT more playing time. If JT can play at a high level, I don't see why he couldn't start for us and play significant minutes.

JT isn't a starter anymore. He is a 3rd down specialty down OLB.
Remember last offseason JT didn't want to start. Roth was our starter. JT was in numerous interviews saying he didn't feel at his age he was an everydown OLB. But with the Roth Saga, he was forced into that role. Probably why he is hurt now.
JT isn't a starter anymore. I think he knows that. Which is why I think he returns to Miami cause if you aren't a starter, might as well be a back-up in your "hometown"

Actually, Wake would make more sense on 3rd downs.

That's because JT was playing SOLB. His more natural position is WOLB (Porter's spot).

Regardless, no other team can honestly offer JT more playing time that we will.
ANY team that gets him AND plays him at his rightful position (WOLB or RDE) will be ecstatic at the end of the season.
IMO...He is still a starter make no mistake.
He said all the right things last year because he wanted to be here.
He rated as a top 10 OLB last year playing out of position. He is a freak.
The decrease in production was due more to circumstance and position than it was his ability or old age.
Trace Armstrong was not a starter for us either but put up ridiculous numbers as a specialist...16.5 sacks at 35 years old. Does anyone think Trace was better than JT?
I can see JT in this type of role...just don't waste him playing on the strong side or strictly on running downs because he tackles better and covers better than Porter or anyone else we have/had.
Sign him. Give him about 800 snaps and watch him get 15 sacks, 20 QB hurries, 3-4 FF's an int and a TD or 2....and then watch him move into the top 10 all time sack list.
I think JT returns to Miami. The ONLY team that could steal him from us is Tampa. They wanted him last year, they still have a need for a player in his position, and he could still live in Florida and be somewhat near his family.
from what i understand he said he'd retire if he didnt play in miami . hey , in this bad economy id understand if he wanted to get nice paycheck . hope he stays here , id like to see him contribute to the positive direction our team is heading in .
I think Tampa is the only team that can take him from us. I don't think Jax wants him. Tampa made a huge push for him last year and Im sure they will do the same this year
I dont know what they want but they have a new GM in charge of personnel now...no longer Del Ri0.
Out of 5 DE's they had 2 sacks last year. Derrick Harvey got both of them. Quentin Groves was a complete bust.
JT doesn't want to leave but if he is only going to play for a year or two then he almost has to cash in for whoever is willing to pay him. Why stay for less if you are not appreciated and wanted enough.
He played more snaps than ANY other LB'er in Miami last year and was probably paid the least....even less than backup Torbor.
