He dropped another 5 pounds since the draft. Looks like he is finally realizing what he needs to do. I think his stock will continue to rise.
Everyone here was foaming at the mouth for the chance to take him last year but figured there was no way he would be available at 25. Now no one like him.
i like his potential but wouldnt want him until the second round. so many questions remain and he is not very versatile at all. i still think he has a high bust rate.
Jamal Williams and many other DT/NT's have struggled with weight. Williams still made several pro bowls....just sayin. He was a second round pick, 34 o/a.
agreed no need to risk it on this kid unless parcells really sees something there. although cody is finally showing a commitment to getting in shape, maybe he is putting it together and realizing what it takes to make it in the NFL. but he is still very risky.
I dont care if he eats an entire McDonalds including the golden arches if he continues to draw double and triple teams like he has his *ENITRE* career.

If he did that he'd outweigh the opposing team's entire offensive line! No one would be running up the middle on us!
I think there's no way he is not a first rounder, towards the late half. remember, all a 15 year NFL starter at NT is is a huge immovable body--those are few and far between and he is certainly that
I think its laughable when people (our fans) say stay away from McClain and Cody because they are a product of Saban's 3-4 defense when we run the same system. SAME SYSTEM!!!!

I totally agree. These Bama guys all scare me. Saban can coach up these guys on defense the way Spurrier coaches up his guys on offense then they don't translate on the NFL level. I have a feeling Saban is the same with his defensive personal on the college level. He coaches them up to the point where they run a version of a scheme that totally dominates college players and college competition with lackluster college coaches. But that won't translate to the NFL level.
And like I said before, if Saban (a drill sargent) can't get the weight off this guy, Sparano sure as heck won't when this kid has a ton of money in his bank account.
I,m not sure you guys know much about weight loss. 3.5 lbs a week is good no matter how fat you are. The trick is keeping it off and that is where I say pass on him. Very few guys can play well in the NFL with that kind of weight on. The Fridge comes to mind. But then he could stand flat footed and jump onto a table.
Ever see him do that? Up, Down, Up, down, Up, Down. It was unreal.

True, 3.5 pounds a week is good. But what is going to "motivate" him once he gets paid and is IN THE NFL! That is the key. He is motivated now. he sees the $$$$$ sings in his eyes. Once he gets paid, will he stay motivated to stay in shape. And like I have been saying. If Saban can't motivate him when he is poor, what makes you think Sparano will motivate him when he's rich????? I would avoid Cody at all costs. I think mcClain is a product of the system. Im glad we got Dansby and can cross him off our list. These Bama guys are overrated and have huge red flags next to them.

Perry was an amazing athlete . He's probably the most popular DT in the history of the NFL.
