Good luck to him on the open market. I think he just ate a cool $1M over his pride. It's tough for anyone one to deal with his age, but I think he and the rest of the team should respect Sparano's honesty. Hopefully, Cam Wake picks up the slack.
That said, I thought Porter was a thug when he came to the team, but he actually grew on me. I never thought I'd like him, but he always gave his honest assessment of things. In this day, where interviews are pretty much we all give 110% blah, blah, blah. So when I wish him well. I really mean it.
Porter picked up quite a few sacks, but he was horrible against the run.
That's one of the reasons the team lost games despite him getting sacks.
How many sacks would Wake have if Porter left the field when he was asked to? maybe he would have more? THAT is why Joey wouldn't leave the field. he was afraid that this youngster was better and was going to outperform and outproduce.
I can't believe a coaching staff would allow that!
Tony Sparano wants Anderson and wake to get playing time and see what they can do. It is possible that they are the replacements for JT and JP.
I can't see Wake being any worse than Porter against the run...and I am positive he is just as good or better as a pass rusher.
Good riddance to bad blubber. Cya JP, thanks for being a punk. All these people saying, o he had a good year we should thank him. Bullshit. He gets paid millions upon millions of dollars to produce. imo last year he just did his job. Get the f$@k outta Miami, you're not wanted anymore.
Joey, you don't have respect for anyone or any thing except youself ... it is so annoying listening to the ungrateful whiners like you misrepresent themselves when they underpeform and are looking at the less playing time consequences
I was not bashing Joey because I kind of liked the trash talking and bravado toward other teams...especially pre game but now i've had enough.
Joey said he is better than Jason Taylor or any other OLB that the dolphins have bar none.
Give me a break. Jason Taylor is a future hall of famer that changes games. With the exception of one messed up year in Washington, Joey has NEVER and will NEVER be the playmaker that JT is.
Taylor had only two less sacks than Joey and was on the field WAY less..oh and he did it from the strong side while playing the run quite efficiently. Something JP has never been able to do.
Joey is a one trick pony. He gets sacks....mostly about 9 or 10 a year with the exception of ONE year where he got 17.
JT gets sacks, forces fumbles, recovers fumbles for TD's and get's ints for TDs.
The comparison isn't even close.
HE is history and will be released in March. No doubt about it. He is due a million dollar roster bonus. Bye Bye.
I hope he goes to NE so Jake Long can neutralize him twice a year.
SD doesn't need him. They have English and Merriman.
SF doesn't want him. Singletary would not put up with his crap.
AZ might take him but I doubt anyone will be chasing JP any time soon. Mayber after he gets cut in March, he can sign with another team sometime in July or August when someone gets hurt. Later loser. you are a joke.
It is Porters turn to learn the the hard way same lesson JT learned last year.
As these guys get older, the leverage and real value to the team drops before they can see it in themselves.
- JT was smart enough after a year in Wash to understand the value of a more limited role player, and the ineffectiveness of playing your cards in the media, and letting the ego dominate the common sense of talking to your coaches / football brass.
- Porter in my opinion, is either delusional about his skills or knows hes on the way out and would like to make people think that it is his idea.
- most other teams will not be fooled, and he'll settle for far less money and likely less playing time too, unless he ends up on a really bad team.
The part of the week that surpises me is Crowders role in the media circus ... he too may see the writing on the wall.

I have to think Crowder is just being stupid. With the contract he signed last year I think he was, until now, the one ILB we'd most likely keep! At this point I see us putting Crowder on the trading block (or cutting him outright), drafting 2 ILBs, signing 1 or 2 ILBs in Free Agency (to compete with everyone else), dumping Torbor, and, possibly, keeping Ayodele as a backup. If Crowder hadn't had opened his big mouth he probably would have been the starting WILB next year (at least on day 1). Perhaps the team sees Crowder as being overpaid (and Crowder knows that) and is looking to dump his contract along with Porters?
I still don't understand what was so bad about what Crowder said pertaining to the situation. All he said was that it was a tense situation last year and that he liked Joey. What's the big deal?
"It was an uncomfortable situation amongst the team," Channing Crowder said. "I know I'm not the only player that thinks that. I know a lot of other guys think that way too. (Porter's) a great guy."
Well Porter is bashing Wake and the other backup LB's.
So when Crowder says you can't take JP out and replace him with nobody really; Crowder is bashing his teammates he will be playing next to next season and beyond.

I still think Wake is getting dissed in this case.

Porter was bashing all the OLB's including JT but nowhere did I read where CC said you can't take JP out of the game.
CC never said he supported JP's stance on the subject. He said....
"It was an uncomfortable situation amongst the team,"
"I know I'm not the only player that thinks that. I know a lot of other guys think that way too. Porter's a great guy."
