Its time to look at the draft as we are done for the year. We need WR's and we need defensive players. Thats the bottom line!

#1 need TE-both Fasano and Haynos are 2010 FAs and I dont want either returning to the squad.

*Mid 1st rounder TE JERMAINE GRESHAM would be fantastic for the PHINS. A terrifc blocker and pass catcher.

While I do think we need to upgrade our TE...I think we need to get a WR , upgrade the FS, and ILB first.

I am not putting names out there yet...but...by position:

I say starting with FA, we sign a WR, a ILB, and maybe a TE.

Draft

Round 1.....ILB
Round 2.....FS
Round 3.....WR
Round 4-7.......another ILB & FS and maybe a NT in whatever order they feel they get a player with upside.

Agreed! We can get a decent TE in later rounds or as a FA. Our defense HAS to be our #1 concern. I'm sure Parcells sees it that way too! Any chance we'll fire the D Coordinator at the end of the year?

-------a decent TE in later rounds or as a FA. Victor

I dont want a decent TE, I want a SPECTACULAR TE. I want this team and Henne to have a fantastic offensive weapon to compliment our POWER RUN GAME.

Owen Daniels is an awesome TE but will definately demand top dollar.

we are NOT done. DOnt forget that we started 2-4 last year as well. We STILL control our own destiny and now have to beat the pats in both meetings...

If our D stinks, a "spectacular" TE isn't going to make much of a difference. A TE that can block is essential, but, otherwise, how many catches does the average TE make in a game? If you want Tony Gonzalez, then you better be ready to sacrifice some other pressing need on the team (like a stud ILB or FS...or even a #1 WR).

If we all agree that Crowder and Wilson are hurting us....and that Porter and Taylor may be too old to be effective....then I don't know if it is fair to fire Pasqualoni.

What could Pasqualoni do if he had a better ILB and FS?

You, yourself, questioned why we changed or defensive philosophy in the 2nd half. You think Sparano or Parcells forced that, or were these the play calls made by Pasqualoni?

We need Wr's I definately agree, but I really believe our D is more important. We dont have any good Safety's. We dont have any good Inside Linebackers. Our only decent NT will be 36 next year, I think. So, we have SOOOOOOOOO many holes on D that need to be addressed that I believe the defense needs to completely addressed in the draft next season. Hopefully Hartline keeps improving and especcially Pat Turner.

We need OLB's in the worst way. Porter and JT are just soooo old. You can't keep depnding on them moving forward. I would LOVE to see Roth/Wake tandem next year Week 1. Then that would allow us to draft an ILB early. But if Roth walks then OLB is a must.

Gabril Wilson is so bad, there is no reason NOT to throw Chris Clemons to the wolves now and see what he has. He can't be any worse than Wilson. Seriously, he can't miss any more tackles than Wilson. He can't cover guys any worse. He can't drop any more INT's. CHRIS CLEMONS CAN'T BE ANY WORSE!! Let's see what he has and lets not wait any longer.

It's pretty sad that the ONE good move the Raiders have made in 10 years was cutting Gabril Wilson...lol Unfortunatly we get stuck signing this bum.

I agree, that the coaches should have kept up with the shifting and keeping the Saints off-balance.

But should Pasqualoni be fired for the change? I don't think so. I think he needs to learn from this one. He is the one who came up with something that worked better than any other team so far.

If he can do that with the gaping holes we have at FS and ILB...then perhaps with a more complete D he can do even more.

All coaches screw up...even me :-)

But what is the pattern? What are the circumstances? Where is the improvement, and adjustments?

Please don't start another draft thread until the season is offically over.

Support the team until the season is done. Plenty of time later, and meaningless now.

They say defense wins championships...

Its not like we have not been able to score on people. We have been putting good numbers on offense or points..

If you asked me..............if you score over 30 points and your team has a great defense , you should be able to win that game.

IMO our defense is the one costing us the games.

My believe is we have to fix this defense......Gibril wilson has to go...Ayodelle is adequate nothing else and so is crowder. Porter and JT are getting old.....We do have a couple of rookies Cbs starting who imo will become great....Yeremiah bell is way above average....

We need to find a replacement for ferguson who is still a load but getting old . Hopefully soliai is the guy.
Cameron wake has got some potential as a passrusher........Still raw..........................Merling and lankford are still young and learning. The have shown a lot of promise.

All this meaning we have too many flaws on defense.

Another draft..........................Another set of free agents...............I dont think the season is over yet but its getting to that point.

Didn't help us when we had Marino. That was a GREAT offense, but it couldn't overcome Olividotti.

ILB is an important spot where we need a significant upgrade.

The main reason we have been losing games is because of the receiver position.

Thats where the main focus should be in the next offseason.

The receivers will improve with more playing time with Henne. They need to get accustomed to Henne's throwing style and Henne needs to develop his touch and rhythm. The defense is definitely the main area of need.
