Yes,we do need help on the interior, but 8 is too high to draft that position. An impact player must be drafted there. If Miami trades down, then if one of those top interior guys is there, then I could see Miami drafting one of them.

I'll be disgusted if we draft any QB not named Wheedon in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round.
Taking a QB there is virtually a wasted pick.
At least Wheedon has elite tools and would be a 1st round pick if he weren't 28.
Anyone else is a project. I can get project QB's in the 5-7th rounds.

Not trolling but (of course I agree with the sentiments as to Weeden) but again, the funny thing, I was also thinking in November and December of 2011 that we "get project QB's in the 5-7th rounds."
I was hoping we could, SATISFYING THAT QUALIFICATION, draft a guy that intrigued me as a late round prospect.
IMO Wheedon is significantly more NFL ready than Trannyhill who might get stuck in neutral for several seasons. Wheedon has the more impressive arm, his release is faster, he reads defenses quicker, superior accuracy, and he’s got a two syllable last name (a big key in this draft)!
Ideally, IMO, we either trade down and land Wheedon later in R1, or get an immediate impact player @8 (i.e., a Lady killer like Ingram) and move back into late R1 or a few spots up in R2 and get Wheedon (contingent on how the board plays out and other teams dealing with QB needs).
Of course the ideal situation would be trade down AND still get Wheedon in R2 at #8 (or whatever our spot is).
Whatever, I still see our #1 target being a disruptor raptor Lady killer R1 followed by WR and OL – with the best play available @QB. Depth at OL and WR play well for us.
In my assessment of the team as is, in order to make the biggest improvement from last year we need to knock the opposing QB down and protect ours. That will go a long way to improving the bottom line. If we can do that AND add Wheedon along with WR talent the rest would be gravy.
On the other hand drafting Trannyhill sucks a lot of oxygen out of our draft on a kid that’s definitely an NFL project. Yea, he could be great. But then again… No sure thing. And burning that much draft capital on the kid is a bit too much speculation for me. UNLESS the dudes making the call (Philbin, Ireland, etc.) are like jumping up and down with anticipation of having this kid in the program.
The smarter money either picks the best IMMEDIATE IMPACT PLAYER @8 (most likely DE/OLB] or we parlay #8 into additional draft capital and target Wheedon (or maybe they have insight elsewhere). But this Wheedon kid looks like a pro IMO.
