I agree 100%, Ozzie should know better, but like I said, he has no filter.

I hope Cuba get's the freedom it wants and deserves for all Cubans. This a free country and Guillen has been suspended and will serve it after that I hope he is still the manager of the Marlins. That is the AMERICAN way. After all he does have freedom of speech.

Freedom is something many Americans fought and died for. That MIA exile crowd needs to remember that and maybe if they had fought for freedom in Cuba they just might still have their island home.

It's certainly ironic.

I look at it this way: Ozzie has the right to say and believe whatever he wants. The team has the right to decide wether or not to Retain him based on those comments. The fans have every right to voice their disgust in protests or with their checkbooks.

This is very much like the Don Imus situation a few years back.

The bottom line decision will be a financial one. If it gets to the point that keeping Ozzie costs them too much money then he'll get cut loose. Until then, they will wait to see if the initial outrage subsides.

Unfortunately that's the way it all ends these days. Honor, freedom etc do not carry as much weight as 'finance' these days.

First of all let me say that i love everyone...I love this country and i love america and their people ...this country has give me everthing i have to day.

But before some of you go and tell us cubans who are here....to grow some balls and go over there and dethrone fidel castro...?

All we wanted to do in this country is work and have a better life...

But there is also the bad seeds cubans who want power and want to be in office...etc like there are bad seeds in every nationality....

Now back to my point of us cubans going there and dethroning fidel castro because i will add some of you say we have no balls.....

The american people have the army navy marines....airforce...

We cubans do not own an army here....we have no guns or planes or weapons etc.....

The last time we asked kenedy and the americans to help us in playa giron.....They left our asses hanging.

thank You.

Why would he know better?

Just because he knows baseball enough to manage a team and was a good enough player to make it in the big leagues doesn't mean has has anything more than cabbage between his ears.

Ozzie is and always has been an idiot (outside of baseball).

If it weren't for the game he'd be picking vegetables in California or standing on some street corner with other day laborers looking for work.

Missou just in case you do not know about playa giron...

The cubans in this country asked the americans to help them in an invasion to cuba...They went over there the cubans and they were suppose to receive help from keneddy and the americans..Kenedy was the precident back then...>The american troops recalled their army...they were supossed to help the cubans by plane and by sea....Many cubans died and were taken prisoners.

This was back in the 60s....

Cuban Briggade 2506.

Yes that's a good point about the Bay of Pigs. Of course, a lot of nations overthrew dictators without the help of other countries, so I don't think that only those with an air force and army can overthrow their leaders (most rebel groups don't have their own air force or armies).
Fidel will be dead soon enough---let's see what happens when that occurs. I for one can't wait for them to turn Havana into what it was on the 1950s--Vegas on the Sea! I'd love to travel to Cuba pero no puedo...

That's our system. Money talks...BS walks.

But if you want to bring words like "honor" and "freedom" into the mix then people have no right to demand he be fired.

Freedom and freedom of speech means freedom for ALL. Not just those you agree with, but especially those you DISAGREE with.

There was a time in this country when the notion that: "while I may not agree with what you have to say, I will defend with my life your right to say it," was the general philosophy because we were all Americans and the ideals we stood for we're more important than the things we disagreed about.

Now that's all changed. Anyone who doesnt agree with you is "the enemy."

Very sad.

Berk......We will never see cuba again like it was in the 50s and 60s........Its so deterioteded....

Hotels and houses falling down right now.

Maybe one day cuba will be free and back to the way it was before...as there were americans who used to visit and go on vacations to cuban resorts...

But we will not get to see it. Maybe our great great great great grandchildren will get to see it one day....

Sam, Cuba has changed greatly. There are charter flights leaving Miami every week taking first and second generation Americans to visit family members that stayed behind. I have several friends that have been there recently. The Cuban government does not restrict travel to Cuba, the real culprit is America's antiquated embargo on travel and spending money. Cuba is one of the few countries in the Americas that I have not visited and I'm looking forward to going in the very near future, not in support of the government but to meet the people. I find it interesting that the "leftist communist" governed countries in the western hemisphere also happen to have the lowest crime rates. Bolivia, Cuba and Nicaragua are among the lowest with Nicaragua being second only to Canada as the safest place to live. Incidently, Cuba has a better literacy rate than the US and a much better public healthcare system. It's not the same Cuba that your Father and Uncle remember. 50 year old feuds are unhealthy.

And Jamaica has no slums? The Bahamas? Have you ever been to the Caribbean? The disparity between the haves and have-nots is quite drastic. When Cuba is finally free, the beaches and parts of Havana will be fixed up, but most of the country will remain as-is for countless years. In addition, the crime rate will go way up, so even if you're interested in history (and Cuba has a LOT of untouched historical landmarks), you'll do so at your own peril.

hehe..Hooligan...........Some of the people that are allowed to got there are called MULAS....

Fidel loves them.

Like i said in an earlier post...

Celia cruz was dying and fidel castro did not let her go and visit. He didnt give her a visa.

Im not sure about this but there was another singer not sure if it was celia or not her mother was dying and he didnt let her go see her mother did not give her a visa either.

I wouldnt go there and give fidel my money if my life depended on it.

There are so many other places to visit.

She send a letter saying thank you so much...That was worth about 6 month of her husband pay over there....

And her husband has a good job over there..she works in a clinic doctors clinic...she gets paid about 5 dollars worth a month.

She is about my moms age....She sent a pic over of her and she looks like my moms mother.

No food and vitamins will kill you.

MLB is a Job. Just as I live in America , I can not go to my Boss and Tell him everything on my mind and How I feel. I would not have a job very long if I did that. Anywhere. Hell you could OWN the Team and you could not make statements like that . Freedom Of Speech will protect you from any Criminal proceedings, but after that , you will learn the hard way as Ozzie has. The Marlins have a New Stadium to pay for. If Cuban butts are not in the seats he will be gone. Its that simple. Buisness 101.

Unless you are the general Manager of the Miami Dolphins. Apparently then you can alienate whoever you are and still have a Job. drinking smiley

Ozzie lacks horse sense. He's a loose cannon and the Marlins can expect more "stupid" stuff from him. I was surprised Loria put him on the payroll.
