So now Buffalo has speedy Lee Evans, TD machine T.O., and possession guy James Hardy.

Hardy didn't light up his rookie year, but with his size and hands, and now having T.O. to take pressure of Evans, there is a HUGE opportunity for him to be a KEY #3 WR.

Can we cover all 3 of these guys?

If we don't draft a corner we better get a guy who gets after the QB.

Hopefully Cameron Wake is a beast in the NFL.

lots of random thoughts, but T.O. with Evans is an issue we need to address.

It's not time to panic. Harvey at the Sun Sentinel is freaking out because of the T.O. move saying we need a shutdown corner. First of all, there's no such thing as a shutdown corner. These receivers are talented and they're going to catch their share of passes, period.

We need to upgrade our corner position, especially with Goodman gone, and we'll do so. But we don't need to sell the farm or even use a 1st round pick. Anyone we pick up in the draft is going to be a wide-eyed rookie anyway, he ain't gonna be able to cover T.O.

We get the best corner we can, given the circumstances, and we stick with our overall strategy of rebuilding the team. Key is rushing the quarterback, and making the deep receivers more irrelevant. And most importantly you do your absolute best to keep YOUR OWN offense on the field and not warming the bench watching the other team score.

I don't think I am panicking. I am not necessarily saying we need a 'shut down' corner either. In fact, I think our better investment is drafting a guy that helps the front 7 in getting to the Quarteback every time.

How did the Giants stop the 16-0 Patriots? pass rush.

Owens, Evans, and Hardy are 3 players, and along with a TE, FB, RB..someone is getting open. I don't care who we draft..we are NOT covering all of them for the majority of the game.

The QB....that's 1 player. If we have DE's, and LB's who can get in face in a hurry, force him to scramble, make a quick throw? Then you just covered the 3 Wrs.

Did you even read my post?

Yes I did. Did you read my first one?

It seemed like you missed my point. You ignored my discussions of Cameron Wake, and pass rushing and talked about us not needing a 'shut-down corner' which I never mentioned once.

so....I expanded my thoughts.

I firmly believe the pass rush determines how successful the corners are going to be.

Again, I must mention Denver as a perfect example of this...with Champ Bailey and Dre Bly. They had no pass rush last year and had the 26th ranked pass defense with one of the best corners in the league (Bailey) and Dre Bly, a two time Pro Bowler.

These big receivers are going to catch their share of balls as DSam pointed out. The key is going to be having safeties that don't give up long TD's after the catch. We have what may be the best starting duo of Safeties in the league.

I see T.O. getting his head knocked off next year by Bell and Wilson. I see Wilson getting about 5 picks and Bell getting about the same...and both are big hitters.

I am concerned about getting a corner as well but I have to trust that the FO has a plan. I'm sure they didn't forget that we lost our best corner. They let him walk. So, What is their plan...???

a. They think someone on our team is ready to step up (Jason Allen) until a rookie can compete for a job.

b. They think they can land just as good of a CB in the draft as their were CB's available in 09 FA.

Personally, I think Sean Smith is a perfect fit now more than ever. He is 6'3 and 210 and matches up well with TO...or at least he has the potential to. TO still struggles with press coverage and double teams.

I am more worried that Joey Porter has hit the ceiling and has nowhere to go but down. He did I think Wake was brought in to push him for a job on the weak side, not Matt Roth.

The last two games he had 1 tackle and NO sacks. Teams figured him out and are now shifting the Tight End to his side and running right at him. He is a liability in run support and can't get off of one on one blocks. In the last 6 games he had 9 tackles. He did come up with a few key sacks but he is turning into more of a 3rd down specialist instead of a 3 down LB'er.

You can cross McFadden off your list. He signed with AZ for 5 mil per year.
