No way would I reach for Ryan Tannehill. This team needs "Ballers","impact players", "studs", "a game changer", someone who could contribute now". Lets have some "Pizazz" on this team for a change ! Someone solid please ! No more of these developmental players with "potential" in the early rounds. When was the last time a football team won with "potential" ???? This team needs to start picking the best available player. I wish the Dolphins would stop "overthinking" their picks. If a top tier player falls to us "GET HIM". Look what drafting "potentiality" has doen to this team in the last few years. Get back to a "sound" drafting doctrine in the early rounds .... "please" ! Any "STUD" impact player at any position is a welcomed pick IMHO ! No more "REACHING" for players ! I understand that their is no sure thing in the Draft but please limit the chances for failure in the teams Draft picks. Look at some of the talent the Fins have passed over in the last few years ! Makes you sick thinking about it. Best available player is the way to start the rebuild.
Not every position is equal as far as the impact a 'best available player' at that position will make. Long is a 'STUD', Pouncey is a 'STUD' both first rounders. Where's that got us? 20-28 the last three years. There is just no way around it If you don't have a top tier QB in the NFL your chances for success as a franchise are about zip. WE have proved that over the last 10 years.
I don't know if Tannehill is for real I haven't seen him play much. BUT IF THE ANALYSTS AND OUR TEAM CONSIDER HIM A LEGIT FIRST ROUND QB PROSPECT. WE BETTER TAKE HIM IF WE CAN. Yea, he might be another Cade Mcnown. But he also might be another Drew Brees, Arron Rodgers or Matt Ryan. All guys our genius's passed on in the draft because they didn't wanna reach.

Then you've been pissed off for about 20 years now.
I like all those pick of yours Ken. Except Tannehill of course. The jury is still out on Tannehill. He is a an excellent athlete but the Phins need an immediate playmaker for the "win now" Dolphins. Floyd, Ingram, Coples or Claiborne would be a great addition to the phins and would probably start on day one. The Phins need a premier Quarteback ASAP and I agree with you totaly it's the number 1 priority. The front office has made some incredible blunders in the draft and in free agencey these last few years. To be Honest with you I thought Mat Moore did a great job for the hapless Dolphins. Hopefully he will get better and better until the next Dan Marino can be found. Tannehill is interesting but I would not draft him in the first 3 rounds. The front office needs to do a much better job of evaluating players, this is the real problem ! IMHO
The problen is that you have to take players you like when you have the chance to take them...or you may not get another chance. To pass on a player that you have identified as one you like because you may have to reach for him is short sighted.
Now, I wouldn't take a player that we (the team) had rated as a mid to low second round talent, or a third round talent in the first round just to ensure that we get him...but Tannehill is a solid first round talent at QB. He definately won't be available when we pick in the second round.
As a Die-Hard UNC fan. Coples scares me. Trust me, I watched every play of his college career and although he has the size of Julius Peppers, he has the work ethic of Phillip Merling.
I like Blackmon, Claireborne, Coples,
I could live with one of those big offensive line men from Stanford, the guard or tackle...
I also would like to see a bad ass MLB drafted, maybe the kid from Alabama, but it depends on what type of defense we are going to run.. also he would be a reach at 8 like Tannehill, so I dont think we should draft a player who ranks in the 20's eight... but I would like a stud MLB
I have a very narrow wish list at 8. Unfortunately, that spot is great for Defensive lineman. We can't afford to draft more D-line. We need to get a QB or trade down and get a dominant pass rusher. And our options are very limited.
Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M
Courtney Upshaw LB Alabama
Fortunately, there appears to be some depth at receiver later on in this draft.
If Tannehill, or Blackmon don't fall to us, then possibly Trent Richardson falls to us, in that case I would trade Daniel Thomas and a fourth and try for another second. If not that then take Courtney Upshaw. Did anyone watch Bama/LSU...trust me take Upshaw. If we don't, the Ravens will be all over him.

Sounds suspiciously like a bachelor party I once attended...
I've said it once and I'll say it a million times: I don't believe the Dolphins will draft Ryan Tannehill.
Not with the eighth overall pick, anyway.
If the Dolphins can trade back and grab Tannehill, they'll have my blessing. Otherwise, this is too much of a reach.
Tannehill is riding an unprecedented wave of hype, and I don't think he warrants a top 10 selection. He only started one season at Texas A&M, threw 15 interceptions, and blew four double-digit halftime leads (obviously not all his fault, but still worth noting).
Just because the Dolphins desperately need a quarterback doesn't mean they will simply draft the best one available in the first round.
To his credit, though, Tannehill is a freak athlete, ran a pro-style offense, and has a relationship with Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman. Again, I don't think Miami will make this pick, but there are worse scenarios out there.

Rick the next time you're going to copy and paste someone else's work, how about at least posting the link, and keep it down to just a couple sentences.
Thanks
