I am against drafting him 8, not against drafting him, He is in no way shape or form worthy of a top ten pick from my cheap seats...
Very end of the 1st to middle of the second... Teams needs to find a QB, boost these guys value way beyound, which means you are reaching becasue your team is so desperate to find a QB, it is worth getting the perceived 3rd best QB a whole rd early... I think that is foolish... SO few QB's are successful out of the draft each year, this theory is just foolish... Look how many QB's went in the first 12 picks last year because of need (Newton, Locker, Ponder, Gabbert) and Dalton and Kapernick in the second,, and how many do you think are going to be franchise QB's.... Whats the avg 1.5 QB's drafted each year are franchise, if that? A boom year is if you have 3 in one year, which happens what, once every ten, fifteen years? Some years zero?
No we dont take a guy that has so many unknowns with the #8 pick, just because we are desperate and on a QB drought....

He will be a solid franchiser for a long time. Im good at 8 with this kid.

I was a no but over the weekend I watched as much you tube clips I could on the guy. I saw what I remember I did not like, he would overthrow an open WR and did not make all the reads. I do like his arm and his ability to get the ball to any area of the field w/ precision, his arm is really good. I do think he has the mental makeup to learn a system and correct his errors.

I vote yes at #8. Do not trade away the farm to move up though.

I could live with him at #8, though I wouldn't be thrilled with it. Vehemently against him earlier than 8 thru a trade up. Very much in favor of getting him after a trade down that nets additional 2d rounder---though I don't think that is possible.

But I'd be very very happy with a draft that gets
Tannheill in 1st
and then with our 2 2ds and 2 3ds, at least 2 WRs/TE, and the rest of the draft on D and OL.

For, only because Miami has to get a franchise QB sooner than later, and Miami, this year, is in a position to do that.

Tannehill may be gone at pick #4 anyway.

This is hilarious to me. So many people wanted us to draft Locker, Gabbert, or even Ponder or Mallett. And Tannehill carries a higher grade than any of them. Even Mayock said that in last year's class, Tannehill would have been the 2nd QB off the board. If he is there at #8, we finally have a chance to draft a guy with size, a good arm, smarts, mobility, great footwork, athleticism, and experience in our system, and people don't want him.

If we draft him it is because our new OC, who was his college coach, has faith in his abilities.

If we draft him...and Sherman installs an offense with which he is familiar, he will be in a position to compete very early.

What are the options? Slim, none,few, and farbetween.

If we don't draft Tannehill, we are accepting 2013 will also be a rebuild when we THEN get our franchise QB.

My wife and 2 yr old vote "for", the 4 yr old can't be swayed. Put me down for 2 fors and 1 no.

I am a system-first kind of guy, and highly suspicious of the mythological, franchise-redeeming QB figure.

In any case, figuring that Tannehill will be "the one" is quite a stretch for me. If Sherman thinks the kid is that good, I will go along, however.

Count me in for Tannehill with reservations.

As I have said before regarding both Flynn and Tannehill, I would be happy if either become our quarterback because that means either Philbin likes Flynn or Sherman has a strong conviction about drafting Tannehill.

It became clear that Philbin didn't have high enough praise for Flynn so I am not upset we didn't sign him.

I suspect that part of the reason is because Sherman has a high regard for Tannehill. In film study, I like what I see from Tannehill and I am hopeful that the Dolphins' staff does too.

In short, if they select him with the 8th pick then I think they know they have the goods. If they don't then we will know he didn't tickle their fancy.
