Fire Ireland and bring him in. Should have done it months ago. Not too late now

thumbs up Yep

Though I am not losing my mind over the decisions thus far, and have confidence there is a plan in play, I think the image cast on the team and Ireland's inability to close the deal on several promising FA visits leave the Fins in need of a change.

I agree Polian is an awesome opportunity and we should jump on it before someone else does.

Yeah, Ross can solidify his reputation in NFL circles by firing his GM a month before the draft after a 25 person protest. Jeff Ireland is here AT LEAST thru this season and probably longer, get over it already people.

hiring polian would immediately right the ship and give us at least some credibility leaguewide. If not now, then right after the draft. I am serious, this needs to be done. We can keep Ireland's assistants or whatever. Just get him out as the "face of the franchise"---and don't kid yourselves, that is exactly what he is.

I acknowledge the timing is terrible, but it needs to be done at least within the window of his Polian's availability ... if it is to happen.

As berk noted, perhaps after, but with Polian's experience, he could take the reins and get thru this even now.

25 person protest? as noted I disagreed with . Wrong way to deal with it. Bottom line its time to flush the remains of the whole Parcells and Dallas experiment in Miami.

It's Ross's job and he bet on Ireland, and has seen the team's image take some serioius hits. Wish Ross had done it all at once.
Ross hung on to Sparano too long too!

It may be best for him to save face on his choice of Ireland this year and let the draft play out first ... but make no mistake he has a lot of image control to deal with.

When you have winning credibility, you can sit back and say nothing. With the record of this team over recent years ... they need someone that is a lot smoother than Ireland or perhaps someone to compliment Ireland with the media / image front.

Polian could do both jobs and well. He is however right now working part time with ESPN as a commentator by phone (mike and mike). I think Polian would be a huge upgrade.

More impaoirtant than all this image stuff is that credibility & relationships is what makes good trades possible. Who wants to be known for working closely with Ireland these days vs a Polian image?

I've gotta say, I forgot that Polian was still unemployed. YES we should get him. Whether one hates Ireland (like most of you) or tolerates him (as I do), NOBODY can dispute that Polian would be an upgrade over Ireland.

If he'd take the job, YES hire Polian.

And if it happens, I'll REALLY believe that the protesters, all two dozen of them, accomplished their goal.

Polian wasn't even the GM in Indy, his kid was, they'd probably be a package deal......how was Indy's roster outside of Manning of late?

Never to late in the process...Philbin and Sherman would have to handle the draft that's all. Sherman already has previous GM experience.

It would go something like this...

Ross: Jeff, I'm a little disapointed in the bad press we've been getting lately....I'd really like for you to give that Tebow kid a shot at rejuvenating our image here in Miami.....

Ireland: Mr. Ross I think that would be a terrible idea...

Ross: OK then Jeff your fired... Joe, you and Mike take care of the draft while I look for a new GM. Oh and order up a half million Dolphin jerseys with Tebow on the back for the gift shop...

I'd like to send some over to the Republican National Convention this year for Mitt to hand out to his supporters, Oh and get me Taylor Swift on the phone, I want to find out if she's interested in investing in her boyfriend's new football team.

Hahahaha...

Good one!

But you forgot the 2nd half of the drama which plays out like this:

Sherman: but mister Ross...tebow can't play in our system. It won't work.

Ross: I respect your opinion on that but I've got 25 fans Protesting for me to get them a player. You are both fired. Tebow is so good I won't need a coaching staff.

The Ross calls Denver and says: John you got me over a barrell. I need tebow to keep these 25 idiots in my parking lot from keying my Bentley. I'll give you the 4 first round picks my former general manager should have offered for RG3. what do you say?

Polian is like 90 years old.

I'll take my chances with a young aggressive Ireland as long as he keeps reading "How To Be Human" for dummies.
