This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
I'll excuse the Marshall trade, but it's blatantly obvious what's going on here. Ross is CHEAP and he's cutting costs left and right. He's been doing it for years (Jason Allen, for example).
So, I'll be dropping off this board, concentrating on the NBA season, and possibly looking for another team to root for in the NFL. I live in Orlando, so I'll start with Tampa and see where that goes.
Don't be a quitter. I'm aggravated too, but you wanna give up now? We bleed the colors bro. C'mon. I have had a lot of hope after what I have seen of Moore last year. 12th ranked qb in the league. Didn't even start for the whole year and improved each game. Some say Moore cant play WC offense. I say, lets see. David G. was a player in Jacks. as well. We still have the draft.

RESPONSE: But would that be FUN, for you Finshady?
My life has been an empty shell since THE Truth blocked me.
There's no FUN left. Don't desire to be like me, Dude!
You guys are depressing me...and making me nostalgic.
I realized that when I took a year or so to work on my Masters that some people changed names...or left...
I really miss the good old days.
Where is EGDolfan?
Seadog? or Old Salt? can't recall
Remember the old Don Shula getting banned? You still here buddy? Didn't you change your name a few times?
Listen guys....I keep thinking it can't get any worse....clearly it can. even when we were 1-15 we were still...The MIAMI DOLPHINS...there was respect...and an assumption that we would climb up soon.
We hadn't become the laughing stock that we feared we would become.
Well....we are almost there. It is March before the draft and some are half jokingly ( half seriously) talking about landing Barkley....depressing.
The problem is that we haven't sucked enough. We have always had glimmers of hope, flashes of talent, promise of improvement.
Even now I can honestly convince myself that with a solid SPEEDY WR, a top notch pass rusher to compliment Wake, and a Free Safety ( and maybe a Strong Safety) we are ready to compete for a Wild Card spot.
The problem is.....if they can't land a staring QB when several are available? What evidence is there that they will get any of those Needs filled?
You people keep forgetting something I've been trying to convey since the last game against the Jets........Mat Moore ain't half bad! With some Oline help and a few recievers from this deep deep draft, the sky ain't falling. Could it be better ? Sure, But I'm quitting, wah wah wah like a baby bad? please. Ross is getting the message loud and clear trust me.
You would think we went back in time and traded Dan Marino away in his prime for a box of stale crackers…
It’s kind of funny how insecure all these fans are – as if the negative crap somehow makes you a fool if you like the team and support the franchise. I mean really, who freaking cares.
We just hired a new HC and he hasn’t even coached a preseason game yet we’re already the worst team in the league. Really? I guess if you truly believe that it might be time to move on. Personally I want to see what the draft is all about and then how things progress in TC. After that we’ll actually get the chance to see the team in action and get some better impressions as to how things are shaping up.
Don’t worry kiddies. There’s plenty of time down the road to nuke Davie is it comes to that.

Let him vent in the way he sees fit. We all vent in different ways, I am glad he is frustrated and upset, we should all be... He will calm down and still be a fan when all is said and done..

I'm letting him vent....notice how the post wasn't deleted.
And I agree he'll still be a phins fan. People express their fan-dom in different ways.

I'm with you TCPF.
But its not just that.
We have completely ignored the need for a franchise QB for a decade and a half.
We had and owner in WH and coaches from Wanny through Sparano and every GM along the way (including Parcells) who preferred caretaker QB's instead of 1st round QB's.
We finally get an owner and a GM who get it and decide to pursue that position and everyone goes batshit crazy when they don't get the first 2 guys in the 1st two days of the first off-season they tried to address the issue.
time for a reality check:
Manning was never coming here. Not only did he have no relationships with our staff or front office, but there's no way in hell we could give him the $20+ mill a year Devner is coughing up.
Flynn was an option who may or may not have been an upgrade over moore. But any fan who thinks he knows better than Philbin if that kid is a future star is delusional.
RG3 wasn't an option either, after Washington gave up thee #1's and a #2 for his rights.
That leaves us with the draft...Tanehill or Wheedon are 1st round talents we'll see if we get one. We'll see if we get the right one. But you guys should realize two things:
1) We are going to try to get one of them.
2) We might not succeed in those efforts.
And Monte...if you need a break...take one. I did it. It was very beneficial.
About the Dolphins, sometimes the general perception is not the reality.
Two things:
One, Ross should keep quite about his exuberance and his so-called plans, because someone in his office is blabbing to the press.
Two, Ross should let his football people do their jobs.
The Fisher pursuit was Ross (through Peterson), Ireland wanted Philbin.
The Manning pursuit was Ross, Ireland (and Philbin) recognized that Peyton was an upgrade, but not the long term solution.
Flynn was promised nothing.
Remember the goal, to win the Super Bowl. And to do that, the Dolphins will need a QB who can do everything, pocket passer, yes, but also, they will need a QB WITH mobility.
QBs without mobility can win a SB from time to time, but only if the competition they are facing does not have a great defense, when everything an offense wants to do is taken away (by a great defense), the one deciding factor will be the QBs mobility.
This has been the case since the beginning.
If a defense shuts down Denver’s running game, and takes away their receivers, Peyton will be a sitting duck. Brady has more mobility, but it’s largely the same case. It was Marino’s chief problem, as demonstrated by the 49ers in the SB, they took away everything (they had a great defense), and Marino was a sitting duck.
If you remember, when defenses took everything away from the Dolphins in the championship years, Griese would take off.
The Cowboys of the early nineties, were a stacked team, but they did not face a team like the 84 49ers, or the early seventies Dolphins (who had great defenses and great mobile QBs).
In Peyton’s lone SB win, he faced a defense that was good, yes, but not great.

I would contemplate it If they Brought in Rex Ryan, otherwise no way...........
Truth said it well so wont repeat ... blows my mind though how folks seem to miss the reality of "just business" and get whipped up into the media frenzy of how the sky is falling in dolphin land.
If you need a break go for it ... if you need a new team ... your choice ... however ... it really is gonna be okay.
Yes we need a qualtity QB!
NO - we didn't get one yet, nor is it true that we haven't tried

Watch more phin fans leave this dumb organization, I dont blame you, good for you!!
Anyone that "leaves" being a fan, wasn't a fan to begin with. I'm not surprised at how much of a beating Ireland and Ross are getting. The media is in the business of making stories as much as reporting them. We didn't sign Manning or Flynn ergo they didn't want to come here. Manning must have loved SF, Tenn., Wash., and the jets, but chose not to sign there. But he hated the Dolphins, right? Flynn was the second best free agent QB available. So much so that he had two teams interested. What about other front offices gaffes? Buffalo signs Fitzpatrick to a huge extension in mid-season and he goes on to lay a buffalo sized egg, and those same media geniuses are silent. The jets extend Sanchez after a putrid year? Since I think Henne was equally as good as Sanchez, that would be the equivalent of our front office extending Henne for 3 years. How would that have gone over with the fan base. Bottom line, it's March not August. The draft is the way successful teams build their roster. Let's see how this plays out. If Ireland drafts the equivalent of Jamar Fletcher in the first round, then we can all revolt. I for one will never stop being a Dolphins fan. I don't cheer for the front office, the coaches, or the players. I cheer for the team...

Hey...look at that, referring to phins fans in the second person. That's not doing wonders for the notion that you are a Pats fan is it.. lol

Oh so not deleting a post is letting him vent? oh how nice of you... HaHa J/K Passion brings out rants at times, I have said many times that's it I am never going to watch this team again and the next week there I am at the stadium, so I know where he is coming from...

Sure it is

I like Monte and understand his frustrations, but lets be honest..WHo retires from a board and fanship with a team and then announces it.... Cry for help!
IF you really were going to leave this team, you would just lose interest and leave, you surely wouldnt go about it by announcing it to a bunch of faithfuls on a diehard dolphins forum... But i like the spirit and look forward to having more conversations on here wiht you in the future about our Dolphins....
I wasn't sold on Manning. Like you said...1 SB....despite years of dominance. Denver will pay a long term price if this doesn't work out.
I think ireland has done a good job in the draft. But...when it comes to Free Agency....coaching hires...there seems to be some validity to the perception that he is disliked in the league.
Is it the Dez Bryant question? Is it Bill Parcells' blackballing him? Is it that he models himself too much after Parcells? You have to deliver the goods before you can act like a tyrant. Parcells earned the right to treat people like crap. Ireland hasn't.
That said, he has done well in the draft and I respect someone who builds a plan and sticks with it through the difficult stages. Ireland does not seem easily swayed by public opinion nor does he show knee jerk reactions. That is a sound business model.
