Actually Smith has improved each of the last three years...if he continues this trend he'll be playing on the elite level statistically. We can't allow him to regress if we sign him though. He has to continue to improve.
Fewer attempts could easily be explained by good game management...any way you want to explain it though, Smith's play has improved in each of the past three seasons. That is a fact.
If you read the actual report out of Denver that this is based on, it looks like a classic example of poor reading comprehension. The report in Denver doesn't mention anything specific about negotiations. I think they were merely reporting the meeting today and other reporters have run with it as being more than that.
Ben Volin has tweeted that Smith won't sign until the Manning situation is settled, because he'd prefer to go back to San Francisco. Until someone like Schefter or Mortenson reports we are actively hammering out a deal, I'd be skeptical.
Please Ireland, just draft a QB. Enough is enough. Moore at 6-3 as a starter wasn't bad enough to be so damn desperate and hell bent to be begging FA's to play here.

Why does everyone completely ignore Moore's first 3 losses of the season? Or 4 if you count the chargers game? He was 6-6 as the starter and 6-7 as the primary QB. And all 6 wins came against non-winning teams. And why do you think everyone from Ross to Ireland to n Taylor to Brandon Marshall to Davone Bess have said Miami needs an upgrade at QB?

This totally kills lots of primary options to find a good receiver. We'll have to deal with Cleveland, and they'll want a BIG trade for the opportunity to draft Tannehill.

if we trade up for Tannehill, I will flip out as well....

I agree. At least with Smith we know what we are getting. And we finally got a 1st round overall draft choice QB!!

This report is exactly how Miami is getting a bad rap as "no one wants to play there", i'm sure they discussed paramaters for what Smith is looking for, maybe Miami smirked and told him good luck, maybe they sign him. But the Denver Post of all outlets (??????) reports that Miami is in negotiations with Smith, now if he signs with anyone else it'll look like Miami swung and missed again, when in reality they might not even want Smith at his asking price. How could the Denver Post possible know this and the local beat reporters cant? Sounds to me like someone in Smiths camp is trying to drum up some interest.
