I have seen Flynn Play in person and he is a very cerebral, confident, accurate leader whom knows philbins offense in and out.
The problem though, is that jeff ireland and stephen ross do not no this. Because if they did, they would pay him what he is worth. He is not kevin kolb. He is a very very good qb. Jeff ireland nor stephen ross knows talent when they see it , thats why they go after the big name, ala , reggie bush, brandon marshall ,mike pouncey, peyton manning etc; the talent that they go atfer may not always be great talent but it will obviously be solid
So in other words taking a chance on flynn would be to risky. So i hope they don't f__K this up.

Stephen Ross knows nothing about nfl football and jeff Ireland doesn't know how to draft.

I'm sorry if you want to take Jeff Ireland side and say that last yrs draft was great , you had better look at all of the drafts dating back to 2008. Everyone keeps saying that Parcells was controlling the drafts, my question to them is , did parcells scout the players or was it his pal Jeff ireland.

From what i know about football is usually the gm and the scouts , scout players. Not the President of football operations, don't they usually sign-off on the players?

Please Name me 2 Probowlers that Jeff Irelands has drafted in the last 4 yrs?

Jake Long, Mike Pouncey, Vontae Davis. Either pro bowlers or borderline.

You may could also throw Cam Wake in that too because no one else in the NFL wanted him but Ireland.

You’re right. Ross thinks football involves horses and jumping over hedges with helmets one. I’ve seen it myself.

hey man i dont know what games you are watching but this team is loaded with talent. We are in maybe the toughest division in football. I dont know who is drafting but they are doing an outstanding job. If we were a 10 win team we would have more probowlers. The truth is that probowls are about wins...

People left out of probowl because of our record: starks, bush, carlos dansby and after paumalu and reed there is no question in my mind that Yeramiah bell is the next best safety in the AFC

One thing certainly still sticks in my mind about Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcell's draft selections:

2009 Pat White, 2nd Round

White was all Parcells.

It was both, Ireland officially has had the final say over player personnel in Miami since Jan. 2, 2008.

Nope. Ireland did not get control of the draft until after the disastrous 2009 draft, when he was opposed to Pat White and Patrick Turner. It is quite well known that Parcells was infatuated with White for several years. It was the 2009 draft that wound up putting Ireland in charge. And it's why the 2010 draft had Ireland going around putting up signs around the draft room that they were going to draft prototypical players who produced in college. That was a direct result of White (not a prototype at his position) and Turner (not productive).

Why people like to boast about their own football knowledge, it's ridiculous to think any fan is a better judge of talent than Ireland. Jeff Ireland has been in the personnel side of the NFL business for 20 years, and is really high thought of by people like Carl Peterson and Marty Schottenheimer. He also grew up around the NFL, with his grandfather having been a long time executive with the Bears. Like it or not, he's forgotten more about judging football talent than any of us fans will ever know.

This franchise is incomplete because of Parcells' dream of revolutionizing the offense with the wildcat. He was talking about Pat White and the wildcat when he was still at ESPN. It's why he hired Dan Henning, who had toyed with the wildcat in Carolina, and David Lee, the architect of Arkansas' wildcat offense. And it's that coaching staff that handcuffed Chad Henne and destroyed his confidence. Remember how Jason Taylor said that the coaches made Chad Henne fear every incompletion and took the fun out of the game? And it's Parcells and his wildcat why we took Pat White. And it's Parcells who believed in big players. For two years now, we have Ireland talk about how we need to improve team speed. Why? Because Parcells didn't emphasize it. But, in today's game, you need it.

You REALLY think Ireland had the ability to overrule his own boss? I don't think so.

They won't screw up the flynn deal trust me.

Flynn is a scrub.

They only screw up deals when good players are involved like manning etc.

It sounds to me like the Phins simply need to offer enough to compare favorably with a Seattle offer in order to get him.

He DOES NOT leave Miami this weekend. Flynn is our QB. I only hope he lives up to the Hype.

if we only have 5 mill on the cap i would not waste it on flynn since i dont think he is an upgrade from moore. Although I love flynn's mobility which is i think very underappreciated i wonder if he can get our recievers the ball. Miami is a HUGE downgrade from greenbays weapons you know... Unless we draft michael floyd.

get dennis dixon...cool smiley

RE: Whether you have the ability to overrule your boss or not is irrelevent...it's not something you do, if you want to keep your job. You might get away with advising him that what he's about to do is silly, or stupid. But, if he makes the call, then you run with it. Ireland ran a good draft last year. If he does so this year then we will know without much doubt that he really does know what he's doing and that he has a long term plan.

I don't think he ran a good draft at all after the Pouncy pick. Moving up to grab a RB with butter fingers when so many RBs were avaialble, and a QB like Mallet avaialble with the QB position our #1 priority was retarded. Reguardless of how you feel about the guy.

Injuries like Thomas experienced last year (hamstring pulls) are something that can't really be taken into consideration. If a player has an injury history such as ACL/MCL tears, broken bones etc. that's one thing, but tight hamstrings can happen to anyone. As far as butter fingers go; he was targeted 16 times last season and he caught 12 of them. He also had two fumbles (one he lost) in 177 total touches of the football, or 1.1% of the time he fumbles. So how you came up with the butterfingers label is beyond me.

Getting Thomas was a good move, but I really thought, when I heard that Miami moved up, they were going to get Mallett. I don't know if he would have solved our QB problems, but at least he would have given it a good shot.

Stop talking about Mallet. he is a 3rd string QB in the NFL. If he is so good then he should be second string and the pats wouldn't have needed to put a second round tender on Brian Hoyle.

Ireland had a good draft. His 6th and 7th rounders have shown potential which is all you can ask for in those rounds. Pouncey is great. Thomas was good when he didn't have a hamstring issue. Gates is raw but we took him to upgrade speed and Gates is still developing. He had limited picks in that draft and still did a nice job of adding quality players. I am excited to see how he does with a full set of picks plus an extra 3rd. This draft and next years draft will decide the success of Ireland and his ability as a GM. If he does well then we should be set up well for a while and if he fails then we will have to blow up the team and start over.
