Matt Flynn is only 26 years young. If he is your franchise guy then you go get him and lock him up for the next 10 years. infact with manning circus it could have provide smoke screen philbin to get flynn because everyone else was so focused on peyton. The fact seems to be that they did not move on flynn until manning said he is not intersted in miami. I dont know many coaches who have a choice between a 26 year old franchise guy who can give you 10-12 years and pass on him for a 36 year old guy that can give you 2 years... im just saying.

RE: If Flynn is signed he will beat out Moore for the starters job day one...just on familiarity with the system and terminology alone.

RE: In Flynn's case your wrong here. But if we are talking about a rookie addition then yes, I'd agree with you.

RE: And Flynn won a national championship, some still say he isn't that good...not that "I'M" saying Wheeden isn't mind you...he's just not the package Tannehill is.

RE: Sure, if we're left with our fifth option for obtaining a QB...then take Wheeden, no argument here.

RE: They'd both have to stink really bad to get us into the top two. I just don't see any scenario except a rash of injuries where we end next season picking one or two.

RE: No, it was good business. You have to put Manning on the top step because of what he has done in his career. Everyone else has to take a back seat until they are either eliminated or no longer want to play. That's what we did.
That said however, I didn't want Manning in the first place as you all know. And would have given Manning only until the start of F/A to sign with us. Then I'd have made a full court press to get Flynn. If Manning wanted to continue talks after that then the first guy to sign would've had the job...I would have done that because I always thought the probability was quite high that he'd never return to his old self thus making him not worth the money he'd be getting.
RE: No matter which direction we went with Flynn or Manning though. Tannehill would be wearing a Phins jersey April 26. IF he was still there at #8. If not then Wheeden would be in a Phins uniform instead, after a trade up into the bottom of the first round. And at #8 I'd take Floyd who I believe would be a great asset in the WCO.
But what I am trying to say is that we dont really know Joe Philbin's true level of desire for Matt Flynn because even if he thought Flynn was the next Aaron Rodgers, Steve Ross was still making him go after Manning.
