The draft is very deep at WR. And people really need to get used to a new way of viewing the offense. For the last 4 years, we have often gone to max protect, and we often run patterns with just 2 guys in the routes, and sometimes just 1! The WCO is 5 guys blocking, and 5 guys into the pattern. It is about spreading the ball around and using all of your weapons. It is about spreading the defense horizontally, not vertically. You create space and seams for quick receivers to explode through. I almost hate to say this. But, if he could get his hands to an acceptable level, Marlon Moore is actually a great fit as a WCO WR.
You will see a much more balanced distribution of receptions. And don't forget how good Hartline was in 2010 when Marshall was injured.
I am still holding out hope for Mario Manningham to be added. I think he'd complement Bess, Hartline, and Gates pretty well.

Our offense was 15th in the league in 2009, before we got Marshall. We added a "#1 WR", and we dropped to 30th in 2010 and 21st in 2011. That "#1 WR" sure didn't help us.

I hope trading away Marshall won't come back and bite Miami in the ass.
However, I'm confident the Miami brass has something in mind to replace him; they aren't going to just trade away an elite receiver and have no plan in place.
As far as QB -- I am not really that concerned. The big gun(s) (Manning/Luck) may not come to Miami. Luck for sure, of course. Manning? Despite Miami being the perfect fit for him, if he decides to go elsewhere, so be it. We haven't had an elite QB since Marino retired, so what is one more year?
Matt Moore played well last year, and I think he can hold the fort until we finally do get that number 1 guy.
Many on this board are not giving Tannehill a chance in hell, but, IMO, I think he is going to surprise some people. Depending on what team finally drafts him, I think he will have the bigger year for rookie QBs this year. Remember tho, I said depending on what team drafts him.
I've seen mock drafts that have Tannehill being picked out of the top 10, where many of the ESPN and NFLN mock drafts have him going in the top 10.
What's amazing to me, is that D-mark can give an in depth explanation of the WR position in our new WCO, and how Marshal didn't fit it, and the next post will say "yeah but we're gonna suck without Marshall"

That's not anything new. We have needed one for awhile. Given his awful hands in the redzone, Marshall was nothing more than a decoy there. 7 dropped TD passes in 2011, with 6 of those coming in the redzone. Hardly dominant.

Really? you must not be paying attention. what was the last move the dolphins made that gave you such confidence? the last move that seemed part of a "master plan" and not just making it up as they go?

ok but what is the "master plan" at WR to replace him?
and I am not buying this--there is no #1 WR in philbin's offense. What about gregg jennings? jennings, nelson, and driver are better than any of the WRs we have less (OK maybe not driver at this point, but still). you need good WRs in that offense.
A and O, Blackmon isn't going to last till 8, and I don't see us trading up to get him.
As for Barkley, I really hope the FO's "plan" isn't to be so horrible next year that we'll have the #1 or #2 overall pick which is what will be needed for Barkley. A trade up for him will be just as bad as for RG3 if he plays as expected at USC next year.
where are all you guys who were celebrating those meaningless wins over crap teams last year??
Mark Clayton is out there, he is an incredible talent. Stephen Hill is going to be interesting. We can get him in later rounds.
It would be cool to sign Terrell Owens but I know most of you wont agree with that and will laugh because no one else wants him but he is an elite talent still

I am paying attention, but as none of us on this board are sitting in the rooms with Ireland, et al, it is difficult for us to know what is going on. I'm just saying that the brass has to have something in mind; some sort of plan.
A lot of what has been said on this board makes sense, as to why Miami traded Marshall.
Ireland doesn't have Parcells looking over his shoulder anymore, and I think Ireland is more of a gambler than was Parcells. I'm willing to sit back and see what he has up his sleeves.

I have a better idea, why don't we trade away those two thirds along with our first this year to Chicago so we can get Marshall back and destroy our franchise for eternity. Same thing as bringing in TO.
