How many catches did the great Brandon Marshall have as a rookie?
It is very difficult for WRs to make the transition to the NFL. Especially if they come from a small school. They go from getting by on speed to having to learn to read defenses, and how to beat press coverage.

I didn't compare Miami's WR to Green Bay's. I explained the WCO philosophy on spreading the ball around. And btw, Jordy Nelson led Green Bay in catches and yards and TDs, not Jennings. Jennings led them in 2010. But, Donald Driver led them in 2009. See? They spread the ball around.

Greg Jennings was on the field for 672 snaps in 2011. Nelson only had 633. Jennings was thrown to 96 times, and Nelson was only thrown to 92 times. Again, the whole point, they spread the ball around. One guy is not getting 30% of the targets.

Really? Brandon Marshall, the former 4th rd pick?
Do you know how hard it is to get a WR who averages 12.6 yards per catch (Marshall's career avg)? Last year, there were 77 guys who averaged more yards per catch than that. Marshall was 75th in the league last year in average YAC. He was 93rd in avg YAC in 2010. He has inconsistent hands. He is slow. He has had knee surgery and two hip surgeries. And our offense was worse in 2010 and 2011 with him than it was without him in 2009. Did he help us win? Nope. Did he ever help Denver win? Or help them have a top 15 offense? Nope. Did his teams in college have a winning record? Nope. High School? Nope.
I could care less about having a guy get 100 catches or 1000 yards. I want wins. And Marshall has never been a winner, at any level. Think that's a coincidence?
Gates may be much better in the WCO because he can use his quickness and speed to get open quickly against LB's...a matchup he should easilly win. All he'll have to do is get open quickly on slants, curls, etc. within 10 yads or so. He won't be limited to running patterns that blow the top off of the defense. I also fully expect Bess, Clay, and Bush to be much more effecive in the passing game.
