I'd make that trade in a heartbeat from our perspective.

Its how I'd handle it if I really wanted RG3 (and I do).
I'd determine what price I was willing to pay with a gun to my head and then I'd start out offering much less, but not so much less that that its not considered a serious offer by the Rams.
I'd make damn sure they knew that I wasn't willing to overpay because I've got Manning and Flynn in my back pocket (even if I really don't) and I'd give them a deadline of Manning getting released or Flynn becoming a FA.
I'd let them talk me up a little so they'd feel like they won and we'd all be happy.
Of course, I could always get outbid but I can't control what other teams do, only what I'd be willing to do.
If the report A&O heard is correct, I wouldn't be surprised, if we were fortunate enough to get a deal done, that one of those 3rd's gets bumped up to a 2nd.
Don't know if its True......but it makes sense. Do what you can to try and get that pick. If it doesn't work out , then go manning/flynn. Hopefully that was just to drive the price for #2 down a bit.
Also, why let the Brown's or Redskins walk in and get a great deal.
Make a reasonable offer...and force the others to up the ante. If they don't? We get the pick at a reasonable price. If they do? We made it cost them more.
I would make that trade because it preserves a 2nd rounder this and next year.
We would have a 1st, 2nd, 4th-7th this year and 2nd, 5-7 next year. The Rams would drop just enough to still get a top guy and add players...and next year really load up.
Brown's have 2 1sts this year though...tough to beat.
if browns want the pick, it is their's. Their 2 #1s this year and a 3d next year would trump our offer. This is a draft with 4 top players and then a 2d tier. The rams drop to 4 and they get the player they'd have taken at 2 anyway. IF they drop to 8 they get a lesser player. Only way we get RG3 is if Browns sign Flynn.
I am calling Bs on this report anyway--how could this have leaked out?
It's too much...but if the team does it and drafts Griffin then I'll be behind the pick.,,after all the kid has some skills.
The question then becomes do we also draft Wheeden in the second, or take another player. And what do we do about a starter at QB...Griffin, Moore or take the stop-gap route in Manning. Because I really don't see us taking Flynn and also adding Griffin.
It's because of the Browns' picks that I think it will take picks and player(s) from us.
However, I would do that deal in a heartbeat...just would be surprised if the Rams took it any time soon. They'll obviously shop this around as the starting point. If we truly made that offer, I'm happy because (1) it finally gets the thing started and (2) Ireland made a serious opening offer. My suspicion was that he might make the type of offer that was designed to fail just so he could say he tried.

The answer to that question about drafting Wheedon is: "ASOLUTELY NOT."
There are many reasons that no team in the history of the NFL has ever drafted a qb in the 1st and 2nd round: It's a bad idea on so many levels.

Makes sense for both sides to leak the offer...especially the Rams.
I enjoy the draft so much that secretly I am hoping we don't give up all of this and next year's top picks for RG3 and would rather have flynn than that. How boring would the draft be if we've got no picks the 1st 2 days this year and next? we'd be like the raiders.
that said, I am Ok with a deal for RG3 that leaves us with at least a 2d round pick this year and next.
yep, even when we pick the scrubs. to me the time leading up to the draft and draft itself is more exciting than most of our games. it would suck if we were terrible next year and didn't even have a 1st or 2d round pick to look forward to. Hopefully if we give up all our picks for RG3 we'd be picking towards the bottom of the draft and it'd take some of the sting out.

Who's ESPn radio show was it reported on and who reported it?
for what it is worth kiper thinks it will cost more.
Mel Kiper Jr. ? @MelKiperESPN
What would it take for Miami to move up from 8 to 2 to get RG III? 2nd & 3rd rd picks this yr plus first rd pick next year.

Alot more painfull watching your team go 0-7.Never play in the post season. RGIII could change that.

yes I agree, it makes alot more sense if we give up a player or 2 rather then draft picks... Young talented draft picks, balance out the salary cap issues... If you have to sign vets to fill those voids, it gets cost prohibitive fast, and major salary cap problems are sure to follow... If Ross, is willing to eat the salary cap overages, more power to him... If he plans on staying under the cap, and trading away all of our draft picks for RG3, we will have major problems in the future no matter what RG3 does.... it becomes next to impossible to have a balanced team, without a balanced team in the NFl, you dont win...
Jake Long has been voted to probowl every year of his career by his peers... And the top LT in the game in last years top 100 players.... I think you are being, a little skewed with your descriptions of Long.... He missed what 2-3 games in his entire career, mainly games that didnt matter or he could have played....
I know im just saying he has been injured and so has jared ostrick and i do agree we have hit on the last few picks but still they leave a lot to be desired with all the injuries.
Odrick had 21 solo tackles, 6 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception, on a star studded defensive line, with heavy player rotation and multiple schemes and positions DT and DE... yeah, the man is good....you are the only one still waiting on the jury.....

Good for him...........We'll see if he can stay injury free for another year.
So far out of 32 games he has missed 16. or 15 to be exact.
samsam, you are being too harsh. odrick had a great year last year and didn't miss any time. long is one of the best LTs in the game. however I'd trade Long b/c he's so highly paid, and I agree, he is starting to be an injury risk to me---he's been injured most of the past few years and played thru mostly, but it has limited his effectiveness
Jerry played LT at the end of last season and i didn't see too much of a drop off.
