Dmark, does Marshall fit the mold for a West coast rec?

Marshall played in a west coast offense in Denver. But, Shanahan is not a traditional west coast offense guy. In the classic west coast offense, speed and quickness are more important than size. It's a lot of 3 and 5 step drops with timing patterns, which means you need guys who can get in and out of their breaks quickly, and get open quickly. It's a lot of slants and crossing routes, stretching the defense horizontally. Guys who can take a crossing route and turn on the jets and get upfield are the kind of guys you want. It's about safe passing, with guys who can turn the safe passes into big plays. My image of Marshall on crossing routes is that his first instinct is to stop, and try to cut back to the outside. That's not a WCO move. But, as Shanahan showed, you can certainly find ways to make Marshall productive in the system.

It's just me personally. I believe Marshall is a selfish guy who is more about him than the team. He had a career best year in 2011 in terms of yards per catch, and he was targeted on almost 30% of our passing plays. And he still complains he doesn't get the ball enough. I don't think you win with guys that put themselves ahead of the team. I think that if the offense spread the ball around more, and Marshall became a 60 or70 catch guy, but the team won, Marshall would still complain. So, I just want him gone.

Part of a trade package to the Rams in order to spare some picks would be nice.
