It's obvious TT has blocked me. Otherwise he would have bitten on the post above. Ha! Ha!

In the words of Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny in Looney Tunes, "I've been a bad, bad boy." But Elmer Fudd got it from Abbott and Costello in the 1940's.

But its probably better for his mental health.

I agree with the above with the exception that I'm slightly more inclined to gamble on RGIII while recognizing CaptKoi's concerns with the difference being that I'm more concerned about his weight than his height. A couple of weeks ago we were discussing on this board whether he was really a 230 pounds, looks more like a 200 or 190 even to us.

Those are all fair concerns.

The truth is that nobody is a guarantee coming into the NFL. Some guys are just more of a risk than others. All you can do as a team is try to mitigate that risk with good talent evaluators. But at the end of the day, there still are no certainties.

I think RG3 will be a star in the NFL.

I've watched just about every scrap of film on the internet on him.

There's a ton to like.

Is he 6'5 and 240? No.

I think he's more like 6'2 and 215-220lbs. Or to put it another way, he's bigger than Pat White which is what most dolphin fans are concerned with when they talk about QB's who aren't direct from central casting when it comes to size.

For my mind, he throws the best deep ball in college ball.

He's got a stronger arm than Luck, so I'm not worried about that either.

His athleticism is off the charts.

He's not a one read QB who looks to run when his 1st option isn't open.

His accuracy on the run is fantastic and he has great feet in general.

His mechanics are better than good for a college junior.

He's very intelligent (3.7 or so GPA in college).

He's extremely coachable...just look at the improvements in his pocket presence and mechanics over his career.

He's not a one hit wonder. His Sophomore numbers are terrific as well.

I'm not 100% certain the west coast offense is the best fit for him, but if Donovan McNabb could have a borderline HOF career in that offense, I'm pretty sure RG3 can as well.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

RE: ...are you willing to pay the price?

Answering that seeming simple question has a lot to do with info we’re not exactly privy to and a huge speculation. Plus, in RG3’s case, an all or nothing gamble on a one-season wonder who hasn’t proven crap at the combine et cetera. So first and foremost, insufficient data is available at this time to complete the equation.

But, for the sake of having an opinion, at this point I’m firmly in the camp the price will be too high to move up to the #2 slot where the aforementioned player is projected to be plucked. That would require swapping #1s this year (obviously) PLUS #2 this year and at least #1 and probably #2 again next year, if not some unnamed babies and/or genetic material and/or additional draft artillery.

KaBeech?

2 1s and 2 2s? I'd do that for RG3. you gotta view the first #1 as not really a trade pick at all since you'd have taken RG3 with your #1 anyway. I think it may cost more than that, however I'd pay that price to finally take a shot at a franchise guy. I'd do that in a heartbeat for Luck.

I think that's what its going to cost us to make the move.

Perhaps we throw in a player like Bess as well.

the conjecture a few months ago was that if the Colts put the top pick on the block and kept Manning they could get as much as 3 first round picks for it.

2 #1's and 2 #2 is comparable.

The problem we have is that Cleveland sits in the 4th spot and can give them that other #1 this year.

RE: I'm tired of cheaper options.

Count me in as well. But...

if RG3 is as good as you believe, and his workouts back that up, including the interviews and various due diligence, then it’s foreseeable a few other teams will want the dude as well. That could eventually push the asking price into the stratosphere…

I’m just not a player as a certain level, but I’m not entirely sure what that level is.

LOL. I had to go to my dictionary because I had an inkling, wrong as it turns out, it was spelled capische.

if flynn signed with cle and manning signed with wash we'd be in a good spot to trade for RG3 since we'd be the highest picking remaining team in the hunt for a QB. I am still on the fence about whether I'd rather have flynn and all our picks the next few years (I love the draft even more than the games) or move up for RG3. Manning is #3 on my list of what I'd want to do with the QB spot. If we take Manning I think we still use a high pick on a QB (tannehill or cousins or someone like that) in the late first (after a trade down) or 2d.

Like I said, I believe the party STARTS with:

swap #1's this year = what we receive.

Our #2 this year and #1 and #2 next year.

But I'm also thinking there's at least some more needed. Maybe we can add Baby T jr. Is he still around?

But I'm thinking the price will MOST LIKELY be a lot steeper, and maybe reuires #3's as well or even another #2 or maybe another #1.

Just saying, at some point the deal doesn't make sense...

Oh, now I get it. It seems I didn't capire at first
but now I feel like a linguistic animal
or a linguini maven!

Watch out for me next trick.

And BTW, we should feed our OL whole wheat pasta IMO. That builds more fast twitch and less jelly belly. My Opinion. Of course.

Don't just say its ridiculous tell me why. Justify it. How many games have you coached in your lifetime? How many practices have you ran? How many coaches clinics have you attended? Why is my opinion "the most ridiculous statments" that you've ever seen? Just curious.

If the phins are not willing to pay the price in order to get a franchise QB then they need to go into another type of bussiness or sport.

Yeah, you have to be willing to pay the price to get what you determine to be ESSENTIAL.

You can argue about what IS essential but once you determine what that is, then you have to pay the price unless that price is so high that it prevents you from functioning and causes problems in other areas that were not malfunctioning.

The sad fact samsam is that the dolphins haven't. Been willing to pay that price. It's been 28 drafts since we took a qb in the 1st round. It's been 13 or so years since Marino retired and all weve done is waste a half dozen or so 2nd round picks in half hearted attempts to deal with the qb spot.

On the plus side...this is the first time we've had an owner and gm publicly comment on how vital it is for them to go get a franchise qb.

I really hope manning goes to washington and Flynn to Cleveland so we HAVE to go get RG3.
