Benjamin Volin @BenVolinPBP RT @JasonLaCanfora: Jay Gruden will not be interviewing for head coaching jobs. Very happy in Cincy. Rams and Jags wanted to talk him

If so...what a PUTZ!
If true, he's obviously (a) insecure and (b) a pansy and (c) incapable of being a real leader of men.
I find that kind of mamby pamby attitude hard to believe for anyone who really wants to be a HC in the NFL - regardless of experience and age...

Maybe....he doesn't want to set himself up to fail. Maybe he doesn't feel ready at his age the way his brother did. Maybe he has roots in the area (kids? in the schools there?). Who knows. I'd rather have him stay where he is than choose another new team over us.
From the general buzz on the net about him staying:
doesn't sound like the fans are in love with him, but they like his loyalty and most don't believe he's ready for NFL HC prime-time at this point. Bottom line, insufficient experience at this point...
Interestingly a number of their fans want Zimmer as HC. It could be interesting if Zimmer comes here and brings Gruden along! My only ??? on that would be - can we still keep Nolan.

As much as I like Gruden as a HC candidate, I really hope we keep Daboll as OC.
I was impressed with his offensive schemes.
If he can get a retread like Matt Moore to rank in the top half of the league in passing then imagine what he could do with someone who actually has talent.
Plus he's found a rhythm with how to use Reggie Bush that is producing big time results at this point.
I'd really like to keep him around and see what he can do with an off season to teach his offense and eventually, a QB with talent to run it.
I agree for the most part... Daboll has some upside and this year was very incomplete due to the lockout and missed time implementing a new O and getting new players on-board.
But I'd also point out a number of folks around the league were pretty impressed with the chops Moore demonstrated and...I think he made the O a ton better once we got Henne out of the way (BARF!).
My only point on bringing Gruden along is...he appears to be a legit possibility as HC down the road, whereas Daboll is still at least partially a question mark IMO. I just want us to load up with young bright coaches who are dedicated to kicking Billygoats ass and ending that Ladies career up there...

I think if I wanted to keep Gruden as a HC as an option 3-4 years from now if Zimmer didn't work out then I'd leave him where he is.
The "grass is always greener" as they say. If we had him here and we struggled to the point we had to can Zimmer then it would be very difficult to justify, let alone sell to the fan base, our promoting Gruden to HC.
At the end of the day, Zimmer would hire whomever he wants anyway. So it really doesn't matter.
if Gruden says he wants to stay in Cincy, why would they let him leave for a non-HC job after the year the team just had, and why would he want to anyway??

Not even close to true.
We ran the ball 60% on 1st down.
We ran it 50% on 2nd down.
And we actually ran it 469 times and threw it 469 times for the season.
I don't disagree with the idea that we could open things up more on first down, but when yo factor in that he has no legit QB, and no offseason with which to install his offense, I'd expect him to be conservative this year.
I wish I could find the splits for the first 8 games versus the last 8 games becasue I'd bet money he was far more conservative early than he was late.
