Another take on what is needed to win

I know most feel that having a top tier QB will take us to the promised land. In order to thrive/win the AFC East, we have to unseat New England.

For the past several years, the Patriots defense has not been overly dominant. Both the Dolphins and the Bills established huge leads the past 2 weeks only to fold late via turnovers. The Patriots thrive because they take advantage of turnovers via Tom Brady.

To beat the Patriots, you have to stop Tom Brady or whomever is QB. How have teams knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs? Putting pressure on the QB. They aren't getting into high-scoring shootouts.

Selling the farm for one guy isn't going to put us ahead of the Patriots.

we need to build a team to compete for the next 10 years, not one that can stop brady in the final year or 2 of the Pats' window.

That's the kind of thinking that caused us to draft jammar fletcher over drew brees (wanny mentioned how you need 3 CBs in a division with Manning and Bledsoe).

we need a QB, not more Defense.

Tom Brady has 3 more years left of high play.

This is unquestionably a QB driven league. Without a premier QB, the chances of making the Superbowl decrease dramatically.

Everytime I am reminded that the dolphins took Jumar Fletcher over Drew Brees, I die a little bit inside.

What really drives me nuts about that pick is that we already had Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain at the peak of their careers. What kind of pornstache wearing fool drafts a nickelback in the first round?

Eddie Moore. I forgot about that abortion. IIRC, he was the first pick of the Dolphins that year.

I am stunned Pornstache is allowed anywhere near an NFL facility after his stint with the Dolphins.

What we need is a better all around team...we have to be better everywhere, position for position, that includes quarterbacks.

But, the single most important component in dominating the Pats, Saints, Colts, or any of the great teams over the past decade is a truly dominant defense that plays that way for a full 60 minutes.

There is not a single QB in the league that plays well when dumped on his butt every other play of a game.

A great QB is a decided benefit, and a world beater though, if the other team can't disrupt him...

People always seem to forget when the big discussion was Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers....

Smith went first, We were supposed to take Rodgers with the very next pick, yet we took Ronnie Brown.

Yeah...that was the same draft that Mel Kiper said "See you at his Hall-of-Fame induction Ceremony", when he was speaking of Mike Williams, the USC WR.

Who, Mel said was hands down the best player in the draft when all the other analyst said he wasnt.

Pats defense sucks. A New QB will Tire them out going into the 3rd and 4th Qtr. I still think Mallet will be a force to be reckoned with, but that remains to be seen. Only way to beat them is to up the Ante and get a Better Offense.

Great point about Mallett but of course there are some people on this board who think that he is just there as a seat-warmer.
