This is a moderated phorum for the CIVILIZED discussion of the Miami Dolphins. In this phorum, there are rules and moderators to make sure you abide by the rules. The moderators for this phorum are JC and Colonel.
sid rosenberg reported on his show that fisher is accepting the miami job. but no one else has that story so it's probably bogus, which is lame of sid.
dan pompei reported he is hearing that fisher is leaning towards miami.
I refuse to get caught up in any of it, b/c last year there were reports harbaugh accepted the dolphins job. and reports miami had completed the orton trade. this is probably just like those.
I honestly think these unsubstantiated rumors are being floated by Fishers people to jack up any offer the Rams might make. I'm still thinking It's 50/50 right now

I think that is 100% right. It sucks that the team seems to be a bargaining chip, when it used to be the premier destination of someone who wanted to be an nfl coach. oh well, if we get fisher it will be a step back to respectability. if we lose out to the rams for him, we will look pretty bad given how hard we are pursuing him. anyone else we get will be the clear 2d choice
I don't think It's so much of an indictment on us as it is a good bargaining chip by his agents. If he would of interviewed with the Rams first, he'd of probably done the same thing to them. I'm sure Ross is offering good money so I wouldn't give much more then this weekend before moving on.
i think we went out of our way to be the first interview. so I guess someone in the org that it was an advantage. probably thought he'd take the offer without seeing anyone else, which was always very unlikely.
I heard that the rams interviewed fisher in denver for some reason. kind of odd. I think he'd be much more favorably impressed with us choppering him in and giving him a red carpet tour of the facilities
Think about this for a minute guys. Who's in the driver's seat. The Dolphins interviewed Fisher. Did Fisher call them for a job or vice versa. How many times in you life has a prospective employer called you to ask if I pay you big bucks will you come and work for us? None right!
So, Fisher is calling the shots. He's the big fish. The Dolphins are in dire need of a big named coach.
Because Fisher is calling the shots he can visit other prospective employers (franchises) who are sucking wind too. He should be able to name his price. If Fisher is all that important, all that crucial to the Dolphins, they will go out of their way (read MR. Ross) to give Fisher what he wants. He can now play the Dolphins by visiting other franchises, tell them he'd go there but would come to Miami for X + Y. Y just may be his own selected GM. Ireland may be seeking a job if such a demand was made.
Since Fisher is the big name coach the Dolphins really want and entertained first. Any other big named coach is second on their wish list.
I really thought by today Ross would be announcing Fisher as the new HC.
I don't blame him for taking the Rams job. Let's see...they have a QB, an easier division IMO, and they don't have Jeff Ireland (or any GM at all right now for that matter). He'd be foolish to coach for this circus.

All good points.
I'd take him because he knows what it takes to win in this league, but I'll be fine with it if he turns us down and we end up with Jay Gruden or Pete Carmichel jr.
