Take him to South Beach and introduce him to some rope and a trunk until the other teams have made their hires.

I hear a severed horse head in the bed works wonders.
BTW: I'm hoping Ross is meeting with him 1 on 1 (i.e. without Ireland). So, if Fisher says he'll sign if we can Ireland, Ross is more likely to say YES.

Your scenario represents a bit of a dilemma.
Its one thing to have a non-dolphin employee exploit his connections to have a face to face with a coach and make an unofficial offer of total control.
Its another thing entirely for the owner to interview coaches on his own without his GM in the process.
Its the same scenario we went through last year with Sparano and Harbaugh.
You TOTALLY neuter your current employee's ability to do their job just by taking the meeting because it will get out. You are going to have to fire him and in reality should have done so before the interview.
Last years circus was enough for me. I sincerely hope that Ross wasn't dumb enough to make the same mistake twice.
to me, having peterson "interview" gruden and offer him the job with full control is even more weasely than what was done last year. at least last year ross had the balls to make it an "official" visit. the only benefit in having peterson do it this year is so he can say the "dolphins" never offered gruden a job. lame.

This would be real good news if true, especially if Norv hangs on in San Diego (I guess Philip Rivers is lobbying upper management to keep him) To me Miami falls behind St Louis and San Diego (if it becomes available) as far as attractive coaching stops.
The other thing that might work in our favor, Jeff Ireland was a ball boy for the Bears when Fisher played there.......that's a true story so lets hope Ireland took good care of Fishers balls

Fisher is a 4-3 defense guy. We don't have the pass rushers on the DL or the pure MLB to play that scheme. It'd be a shame to have to retool our defense.
He's also a west coast offense guy, although with more of an emphasis on the running game than most WCO.

Since no one else reported it, Jeff Fisher is in town (flown in on Ross's chopper) for his recruiting trip this morning.......the Rooney rule was satisfied yesterday........just thinkin out loud! Ross, do something that would make Tony S. proud (Soprano not Sporano)......make him an offer he can't refuse!!!!!!
I don't see Fisher signing with us. Just a hunch. Honestly, picking a coach is such a crap shoot anyway. Who really thought Mike McCarthy was going to be so good in GB. Yet everyone thought Jimmy Johnson was going to take us to a Superbowl (myself included). Most thought that Saban was can't miss. Hell, didn't we interview and pass on Tomlin and nobody thought we made a mistake because nobody knew who he was. Belichick wasn't a genius until the jets took out Bledsoe making Brady their starter. I'm more concerned about getting a franchise QB, another pass rusher, a right tackle and right guard in the fold. We do those things, and we'll be a better team regardless of the coach.
if we sign him, great. if not, I think it's a very bad sign bc it would mean the top 3 candidates turned us down (if you believe reports that cowher and gruden already said no), and that "traditional" doormats like STL and TB are viewed more favorably than the dolphins.
