Who will block for him? John Jerry? Carey? Our line falls apart without him. Lineman like him do not grow on Trees. But his health is concerning me. He can't do it all.
Knees, lower back, now torn biceps...we need to accept that there will be a time to come and it's sooner than later where he just won't be able to be as effective due to his history of health problems. The dude is simply getting worn out before his time.
As bad as it does sound to trade him, it might be the best option for the long term.
I think our 1st this year and long should get us to #3 for RG3 and maybe a lower pick from the 3d team in the draft. I'd do it. We lost 10-11 games with jake long, we can't do much worse without him. think about that!!
I understand your perspective berk. He still has some value that could help us to move up. And your right about losing games even when he's healthy. A QB like RG3 is athlectic/mobile enough to compensate for Long's absence.
I bet that Long will miss some games in 2012 for one thing or another, the question is how many.

Long should never have been in the game yesterday. He already had an injured back, it was time to shut him down.
Anyway we should have been in evaluation mode a long time ago (like when we were 0-7)--playing rookies and backups as much as possible to see who stays next year.
For example, what is the point of playing Columbo another minute?
who is the pats LT? who is the packers LT? who is the saints LT? who was the colt's LT in the manning years? who did the best LT of all time anthony munoz play for---the bengals, and how many titles did they win with him?
end of story.
One thing you guys are forgetting......if we are willing to part with JL who else would want damaged goods? Parting with JL might not be as easy as you think.
his injuries aren't anything that will carry into next season, so I don't think that would hinder a trade. of course I only move him in a trade up to get luck or RG3, if it's one that doesn't require another 1st rounder other than ours this year.
Considering he only has 1 year left on his contract, Long's trade value is not as high as One might suggest. A team that high in the draft would be looking for long term building blocks, preferably cheap ones. Long doesn't fit the bill on either count.

injuries have been an issue so far in jakes career.......maybe this year is the end of that. Or else another pick gone to waste....I think he will be alright.
