game over. while I wanted us to win pretty bad while the game was on, this actually is the best outcome. a decent performance, close game, and we move up the draft board. all in all I will take it
And along with my "Why don't we defer" thread, why the HELL not challenge the spot on that last crucial third down conversion by the Pats near midfield when even the announcers were screaming that it was a bad spot????????????????
This was way before the two minute warning. This was not after we scored our last but before we scored our last and it kept alive the go-ahead drive for them.
Well only thing left this year is to hope the Jets next week are eliminated so I don't have to listen to all those Jets fans, and I am sure there will be more of them then us Phins fans...

I have to agree, although I REALLY wanted the win.
2:30 left in the first half, ball near midfield, up 17-0. Instead of running another play, they let the clock run down to the 2:00 warning. At that point, you knew the coaches were more concerned with nursing that 17-0 lead into halftime than they were trying to go up 24-0. At that moment, you knew what was coming. You cannot take the foot off the gas against a team like the Patriots. You can't do it against most NFL teams, but especially not the Pats. And that conservative nature has been doing us in for so many years it's just depressing. Hopefully the next coach has a QB that he has enough faith in to just let him play.
The conservative nature of our team since Shula left, has been killing me.
I can clearly, I mean clearly, remember Dave Wannstedte saying in an interview during a game, it was halftime and the reporter ran over and asked Dave about the rest of the game and his response was...
"well, we plan to keep the game close and win it in the 4th quarter."

Unfortunately, I remember that all too clearly as well.
What the hell is wrong with winning the game in the first quarter, then protect or build on the lead during the remainder of the game?
Granted, I"d be happy to win games in the fourth quarter, because that would mean we'd be winning games, but the Wanny method does not work!
