Were screwed, Berk.

Its gonna cost us multiple first rounders to move up, which is what we are gonna have to do.

It is an interesting time of year. Wanting your team to win, but knowing a win will cost you a draft spot that is important.

However if we do beat the Jets and Patriots do we have such a huge need for a QB?

Yes.

Matt Moore will poop his pants next season, just watch and see. He did it at Oregon St., and he did in for the Panthers. He is up and down more than a roller coaster.

Look no further then Buffalo, thought they had their franchise QB, rewarded him........eh, not so good.

yes, Fitzpatrick is THE cauationary tale of what NOT to do with matt Moore---ie., declare him the future and pay him like a franchise guy based on 10-12 straight solid games following a VERY up and down prior career. BUF is totally screwed now. Fitz and Matt Moore are essentially the same IMO

Wow thats terrible if we stay at 9 we wont get any of the top 3 qbs.
Hopefully we lose both games left..........And i cant believe i said i hope we lose both games left looking at which two teams we play next. Its sickening to my stomach but we need to sacrifise in order to pick 6 or 7th instead of 9th.

The new rookie scale shouldn't impact the value of a trade that much. In the past the high contracts made it hard to trade and hard to keep the top picks....the new scale benefits both parties.

A trade get the #3 pick from the 10th spot based on past values would require:

The 10th pick, our 2nd rounder ( aprx 10th in that round) and next year's 1st. ( the value of next year's 1st is equivalent to the 32nd pick of the 1st round in trade value.) We would likely get their 1st rounder and a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Moving up to 2nd from 10th would e our 1st ,2nd, 3rd andnext years 1st. And we would get their 1st( #2) and a 3rd or 4th.

Moving up to #1 from 10 would be pretty hard. probrbaly our 2 1sts, 2 2nd's and a 3rd.

I say trade into the #3 spot and take the best QB there.

But, what is not factored in is how many other teams are gonna be trying to trade up to the #3 spot, which at that point would cause a bidding war.

dream scenario: cle decides to add some offensive playmakers(they have none) with their picks and keep McCoy.

wash decides to pick up matt flynn instead of drafting a qb as flynn fits into their offense well

seattle trades up for barkley

we trade up for RGIII without a bidding war as we jump right in front of Jax and screw them over.

totally unlikely but not impossible.

So you actaully think Jax will pick a QB, even though they just drafted one?

Jax GM (the guy who picked Gabbert) is still in Jax. He was not fired with Del Rio.

ive heard that the Jax GM wanted to draft Roethlisberger the year after drafting Leftwich but was overruled since he was not in complete control of personnel yet. now he has total control and Gabbert has looked horrible so i think it is a possibility.

Gabbert hasnt looked horrible. He has looked like a rookie, with no talent around him except a running back.

He has no WR's, no TE's, and no O-lineman.

true A&O, I would be surprised if Jax drafted a QB but I am just saying it might be possible given their GM's history and the small price tag on first rounders now a days. i suppose it would also make their GM look pretty bad for drafting Gabbert in the first place.

throw that draft trade chart out the window this year. there are a ton of teams trying to move up to the few spots=a bidding war. in years where we wanted to trade down, we couldn't GIVE our pick away!

I agree, Berk.

This year...its gonna cost an arm and a leg because its gonna be an all out bidding war to get one of those 3 QB's.

If they DO grab a QB, how would you guys feel about us trading for Gabbert? I still think he's going to be a good QB. Jax is just a mess of a team right now.

no to gabbert. plus they aren't just going to give him away, I'd rather use the picks we'd need to get gabbert (who has shown nothing btw) as a package to get rg3 or barkely, both of whom seem like much better bets

Trading up this year is going to cost us too much, if we are outside of the top five. We will need not only a good first round pick this year, but a good second, and a good third too...we really can't aford to throw away any picks.

I wouldn't trade away any more than one pick this year and one pick next year...max.

We need to lose the next two games and have all of the key teams win them both.

but ken, we wouldnt be throwing away those picks. we would be investing them in a top tier QB of the future. if we identify talent correctly then those picks will be well spent. a top five or top ten QB will be able to cover up some of our other weaknesses. just look at how much crap manning made up for in Indy

ken, that attitude is the reason why we haven't won a playoff game in more than a decade, and won't probably for another if the plan is to take a lesser QB to "compete" w Moore and draft linemen and LBs w out top picks. After all of this time, I can't beleive anyone would be advocating this

Ken displays all the signs of a guy who wants our team to be mediocre. Crowder is another one.

We should just settle for an OL or speedy returner....IMHO.....God knows that has worked in the past.
