Ross was waiting for one more loss after the Dallas game to fire Sparano?
If that's so, going for it on 4th and 1 against the Eagles and changing field position (which had been in our favor) might have been ironically what cost Sparano his job.
I think once the Jags and the Chiefs fired their coaches, Ross felt he had to jump into the coach search pool or he was going to miss out or fall behind those teams in pursuing the top names.
I think Ross' mind was already made up but he wanted to give Tony the chance of turning around the season. Because of the fact we've been in every game and the players have played hard. After all maybe we do finish 8-8...once we lost and the Chiefs made a move, he just couldn't wait anymore.

South Carolinians think exactly alike! I though the VERY SAME THING when it all went down.
