Any true dolfan will agree with mortgaging the future for a franchise QB like marino. We havent morgaged a thing for the last 15 years and where has it lead us. GET A CLUE.

And if we do not, well then we will still suck for the next 15 seasons.

I agree completely. I want us to do what it takes to come away with Luck (no chance), Barkly, or Griffin. But I am OK with letting Moore start next year and see if he can continue to play at a high level. Then we'll have a trade chip, at least. I'd also be OK with giving Moore an extra year on his deal at a reasonable amount, so that we could trade him after next season (his deal ends next year so if he plays well he will just leave and we'd get nothing to show for it).

My fear is he plays good this year, then we dont get a top guy this draft and put our trust in Moore for next year, then he poops his pants and shows what he has been his entire career.

And, A & O, I'm glad you posted that because I agree with you ENTIRELY.

But moreso, your fear that because of Moore's performance we will not attempt to get a top QB in this draft is NECESSARILY based on your COMMONSENSE FEAR that just like some guys on this board are willing to now forgive Sparano and go with him, our management will NOT HAVE THE COMMON SENSE to say, "Hey, Moore is playing okay and without a doubt he'll start out starting for us next year but he played good other places before and then crashed and burned. So the SAFE THING to do is to draft a top flight quarterback.

But you are right to be concerned that OUR management may, like the FPBs on this board, say, "Hey! We got Matt Moore. Let's look elsewhere in terms of fixing the team" just like the FPBs are saying now "Hey, we're winning now, why do we have to replace Sparano?"

Because Sparano is doing his job right now. The team is playing at a high level right now. He's been able to get more out of Daboll and Bush than thier previous regimes and we have improved exponentially over the past five weeks. The team has shown, heart, pride and toughness as well as the fact that they have not quit. Then add to that the fact that they have been almost every game and hung tough with real chances to beat some very high quality opponents. Performance speaks volumes and the current staff has shown resiliancy and the ability to adapt and improve during difficult times...all faxtors in them getting some slack provided the improvements continue and we win out.

Moore isn't the complete answer...but he could be. No matter what though, we still need to draft a QB with our first round pick. Even if we win out, and keep Moore, as the starter for next season.

But we can't mortgage the future to do it because we still have holes to fill which will require draft picks. Improving the team goes beyond simply adressing the QB position and giving away our draft to get one.

"IF" Chyren, "IF", remember the "IF". You might have acknowledged it in some obscure spot in one of your mile long posts but for the most part you are trying to equate the notion of cutting Sparano some slack "IF" he can win out with something like calling for bringing back Wanny.
If we lose to Philly this weekend then I'm 100% in agreement with you. "IF" we win this weekend in convincing fashion "THEN" I'm all for cutting him some slack till next weekend. See the difference?

So where do we slot into the QB derby now?

We can't pick any higher than 3 and can't pick any lower than 9 as of this week.

I'm too tired to actually figure it out right now.

With Long and Moore hurt, and Sparano's firing coming, I'm fairly sure you're going to get your wish!

Rjay, I don't think this is even an argument that anyone would debate with you at this point. Moore's injury alone makes it lunacy to do anything but draft the best QB we can get in the next draft.
