Daboll does alot of misdirection and a wide variety of formations it is beginning to astonish me. We have alot of plays and formations in our playbook and it has to be a nightmare for teams to prepare for... The play that got me to post this message was nothing much, just a 3rd and 1. What does Daboll do, goaline stance, Moore under center and three running backs all equally lined up in a row in the T Bird formation. It was cool, and I can see they have alot of plays for that formation. They made it look like it was a toss sweep to Bush with Thomas as the lead blocker, instead they gave it a quick handoff to Hilliard up the middle for the first down, it kept the rest of the defense late to react playing the sweep....nice play design

We have outscored our opponents 81-20 points in the last 3 games... It has been a while since we have put up 81 points in 3 games, no?

Yea very impressive the last 3 but I think we had been outscored in the first 7....
I hear ya, but I've moved beyound the slow start, I like what I see, not much fun in sitting around exagerating our demise over and over again. I figured every once in a while you have to post a positive subject matter, just for the hell of it...lol...cheers
What I think is making a big difference on offense lately is the execution of the plays. The team as a whole has been working hard and it's showing. About damn time.
i have also noticed some of the creative formations. i really like how we have been using reggie lately. like the play where it is a pitch to reggie but it is designed to be a cut back. we ran it against the chiefs a few times. that is a great design to use misdirection and get him in space
i agree, charles clay is turning out to be huge in the offense and a real difference maker. one of the better late round picks for the dolphins in recent years. jimmy wilson also seems to be a nice late round find. say what you will about ireland but it seems like between pouncey, thomas, clay, and wilson he had a pretty nice draft. that's saying nothing about the potential of gates either
I think we started out the season lacking a true identity on Offense and although we're a little better, we still lack a true identity, are we a passing team? are we a power running team? Sparanos MO has been to be a power running team and win the close ones with a good Def, with the off-season pressure from Ross (for good reason), he had to change his philosophy and be someone he's not. Really wish Ross would of landed Harbaugh at this point.
Here's another thought: why not forgo every single field goal attempt and go for it on fourth down when we're in field goal range? If we had done that all year, our record wouldn't be any worse, and it might be better.
It puts more pressure on the opposing defense, gives Moore and our offense extra snaps in the red zone, makes for more exciting football, and we'll never see another Sparano post-field goal fist pump again. Win-win all around.
If you know you are not going to punt...then on 3rd and 7 you don't have to get all 7 yards. You get 4 or 5 and then go for it on 4th and 2 or 4th and 1.
If teams think you will be going for it on 4th down...they play tighter on 3rd down....meaning it is easier to get the 7.
