...wouldn't it make more sense for them to trade down from #1 and stockpile picks? Would Andrew Luck...sitting on the bench...really turn them into a Superbowl contender by himself? Just a thought.
alot is gonna depend on how Peyton recovers over the next few months IMO. If they feel he is solid, then it is gonna be hard for them to let him go and draft Luck, instead of having this amazing ability to build some young talent around Peyton for another run. With Luck, they still have alot of holes to fill before they have a chance IMO with the shape their team is in
if manning doesn't play this year, and he won't, i don't know how they can rely on him playing next year. nerve damage isn't like a knee, you never know if/when it will be fixed
Irsay with at this point being in last place, is going to tell everyone that of course... It creates more value when other teams try and make offers for the pick at some point... If Irsay said we are not interested in him we have Peyton Manning, it would lower the value. The second pick would pick up worth.... The pick is only valuable becasue of Luck, that is what he will be buying or selling ,either way, hype is good for him...
Lets see. Colts, Playoff team last year. bottom of the barrel this year. Who was it that got hurt? Now tell me again how a QB doesn't make the difference .
Peyton Manning by himself makes that team a contender. You think that armed with that knowledge, they trade down? Are you nuts?
They know Peyton is done. They're taking Luck. The only weapon we have here is that Luck could pull an Eli/Elway (and based on the horrible, venomous infighting going on in the Colts organization right now, he might just do that).

I've said this before. I didn't know Peyton plays defense and special teams. For years Peyton has compensated for a weak defense and ST. The Colts should consider what they could do with a bunch of picks in the first 3 rounds to finally get Peyton the defense he needs.
Indy is playing for the future. When they re-establish themselves I want to hear all of the Dolphins win now croud come out and say how nice it was for the phins to not play for the future.

Why would they try to draft a bunch of guys to try to rebuild the defense when they can just get another top QB and go back to winning and have another face of the franchise to sell tons of jerseys?

Because having a QB that gets them into the playoffs leaves them in the same place WE were with Marino (lots of wins, no Superbowls). If they keep Manning and rebuild the defense, then they could play at the level Pitt and NE have been for the last 10+ years. Do they want championships, or do they want to be just-good-enough to make the playoffs??
When Peyton came out a few days ago and admitted that the procedure hasn't yet started to produce any desired results, I don't know if there's anything else that needs to be said.
The guy needs to go visit a faith healer or something because a miracle is exactly what it's going to take for him to come back and be an elite QB again.
Miami is such a sad franchise. Look at INdy. Manning to Luck. WTF is wrong with this Team? I can see a bad year , but 10 years without a legitmate Franchise QB!? WTF!?

If the Phins aren't bad enough to get him I could sort of stomach teams like Seattle, Cleveland or even K.C getting Luck, but the fact that Indianapolis who have been superbowl contenders for the last 10 years has 1 goddamn off year and has the replacement for Manning just like that makes me absolutely sick!!
