Who are the real DolFans.

I am ashamed of all you so called Dolphin fans that want your team to lose just so we can get a pie in the sky draft choice. I have been a Dolphin fan since the Wilson days. I have cheered and suffered right along with everyone else. When the dolphins went 1-15 I was still watching, wearing my stupid dolphin get up and still screaming at the ref’s. I can’t believe that anyone, who is truly a fan, would want their team to lose. A true competitor fights till his last drop of blood is shed and a true fan cheers until their voice is gone and he can’t yell anymore. You all make me sick.

Be careful what you ask for. We may just get Luck next year. What happens if he turns out like all the other over rated college players? Who will you blame then?

Times have changed, WestCoast. That's the bottom line. My fandom dates back almost as far as yours, but not quite.

I'm also one of the few that actually roots for my team to win every week, instead of worrying about next year's college prospects.

(caution, old man shaking his walking cane mini-rant coming)

Generally, a lot of fans these days (I warned you!) are very conscious and knowledgeable of the draft, next draft, and the draft after that. They also are very knowledgeable of statistics, dissected this way and that. This is largely because of the availability of information out there, fantasy football, etc.

Overall it's actually a good thing, because it keeps (younger) people interested in the sport.

But I personally don't have the time, or even the interest, to look at all that stuff. I'm lucky if I"m even able to watch the games, much less read all that other stuff. Because my time is limited, I feel the need to be concerned with the essentials of the sport--which to me is, the actual football game at hand.

End of rant!

I waited eight months for the season to start and since it has started I wait from weekend to weekend for the next phins game. Lately I have managed to find bars with TVs and satellite feeds in Nicaragua, Panama, Chile, and Colombia where I would spend my Sundays drinking and watching football. Can't always get a Phins game but I can cheer the updated scores on the bottom of the screen. No way am I going to write off this season and start a countdown to the draft. I am the face of Miami football. I am a Dolphan.

I will tell you who the real dolfans are!

1.The real dolfans are tired of mediocrity.

2.The real dolfans are sick of the phins ending with a 8-8 record, missing the playoffs and getting one of the last picks in the first round.

3.The real dolfans are tired of having no real QB.

4.The real dolfans want The number one pick in every round in next years draft.

5.The real dolfans want to make the playoffs in the future.

6.The real fans want a change starting in 2012.

I thought it was ludicrous to be on the suck for luck band wagon before the season even starts.,,and I voiced my opinions on the subject as well.

We are now 0-4 and barring some sort of miracle.... There is no way we make the playoffs. Anyone actually think we are going to go on a 10 game winning streak with Matt Moore and a crappy defense? I would like to pretend but unfortunately its back to reality.

I am not hoping we lose but I am prepared for it. If the first 4 games have shown me anything its that we are one of the worst teams in the league and its a direct reflection of the coaching and GM.

I will be rooting for some sort of spark and miracle but at this point I wont be too disappointed when it doesn't happen bc i don't see it happening.

We will most likely be battling the Rams and Indy for the first pick.

Henne will never be more than what he has already been. Moore is not the answer. Rosenfels wont even get a chance until its too late. Columbo is going to get one of them killed. THomas is turning into an injury risk with chronic hamstring injuries and Bush is not a feature back....worst of all...Ireland is not GM material.

I guess real fans want us to go 7-9 and every year. So I am not a real fan I suppose...

Hmm, I don't recall anyone on this board ever saying they wanted our team to go 7-9 every year.

2 sides to this argument and both are very valid. Putting anyone down for thinking either way is pointless. Let the cards fall where they may. Its looking like the Colts are gonna win the 1st pick anyways.

Don't forget that the Rams are a serious contender for the #1 pick even though they already have their "franchise" QB. How did that work out for them? confused smiley

Not in so many words but that is what the status quo will get us at best. Only way to get out of the status quo is to get a franchise QB. Are we really even going to win 7 games this year? The best thing for the future of this team is to get a QB at the top of the draft, this season. unfortunately only way to do that is to continue our crappy play this year.

Berk, nobody is rooting for the status quo no matter how you want to spin it. We all know we need better coaches and front office to get better. None of us has any control over that.
Hoping to win the lottery and rooting against our team DOES NOT make you a better fan than those of us that support and cheer on the Dolphins every weekend. We're not cheering for mediocrity we are cheering on OUR team.
Luck is a crapshoot. As I mentioned above the Rams are also a pathetic 0-5 even though they have their #1 overall pick franchise QB. Sam Bradford holds the NCAA record for number of TDs from a freshman QB and won the Heisman as a sophomore. Very Luck-like don't you think, and yet they are 0-5.
Luck is no sure thing. How many of our "so called" fans would cut the team any slack if we started out 0-5 next season with Luck at the helm.
Very few I would guess. All the usual suspects would be blaming the coach, the owner, the WRs suck, the TEs suck, the QB sucks, threatening to switch teams, all the same crap we are seeing now.
If we are bad enough to get the #1 pick and if the new coach chooses Luck, I'm fine with that and I will support the team again next season BUTT, I will NEVER root against them. That's childish, immature, and NOT what real fans do.

like I've said before, I am not rooting against our team. I still cheer very hard for them during the games. But when we lose, I can defintely see the definite upside and am not nearly as upset like I used to be.

This is the first year i do not get upset when we lose....

I think we are going to have a great draft party next year. Especially if we get the first pick in every round.

I cant believe im talking draft when we are only 4 games into the season and we are hours away from playing the jets.

I cant believe it.

Who cares what you think of me as a fan, I do not base how I cheer for a team based on what you think... I throw my money at this team every year for season tickets, I think that makes me a real fan,, If you have ever read of my many posts prior to this year I have always said I want this team to try to win every game since I pay to see them win not try to tank it, but to tell you the truth me and all the other real fans that pay our hard earned dollars to go to the games are getting real sick of walking out of the stadium having to listen to the opposing teams fans cheer and dog my phins... Changes need to be made, is getting a high draft pick a sure thing? NO but is having the 12 pick any more of a sure thing? I will never root for the Phins to loose but I do not get as upset thinking something good could come out of loosing... Hey If they can turn it around and win out, I am for all that...

That is how I feel too. However, we are all "real" fans. Some of us appreciate deferred gratification and others seek it immediately. I would rather cash it in for a chance at greatness over the long haul.

Game is about to start. natural feelings/tendencies will take over once the game starts. You may say your wishing for a loss but deep down you ain't rooting for the enemy.

I can never root for a loss....every loss kills me until the next week. I am a real fan and have been since 1970. Intentionally losing is pathetic for the fans and whose to say that we wont blow ANOTHER draft even at #1. We have had plenty of chances to get talent in the draft and have made the wrong choices for a long time now.

The Dolphins aren't intentionally losing, chief. They're just that bad. No shame in rooting for them to suck, since at least that way we won't be disappointed.

That's the point...I cant root against them to suck or anything else but to win every game no matter how bad they are....every loss kills me a little. I am not saying it's bad to want a better draft but we have had plenty of chances in the draft and screwed those up....whose to say we wont screw up another draft even at #1.

Every loss kills you a little? You can still feel emotion watching this clowncar trainwreck every week? Man, I can't even bring myself to care if they win or lose anymore, which is why I'm on the suck for draft position bandwagon.

These guys are so bad I can't even care if I try.

Oh its definetely going to be done in the long haul...The rebuilding process is going to take a while.

I can't understand the blow the season to get the #1 pick mind-set. I mean losing bites, but just giving up? If you aren't playoff bound then you should play to screw up another teams playoff chances.

I agree with SamSam3738's list except for #4 and 6.
4) I don't want the #1 pick every year. The #1 pick is for the team with the worse record, I want the #32nd pick every year.
6) I want change and I want change for the better NOW.
