On one play he let Chris get by him, and Chad had to throw it away. But it didn't matter, because we ended up scoring a TD. Overall, Chris Long is looking nothing like Howie, while Jake looks like a wall.

I don't recall one person on here saying that C Long was any great shakes and demanding we take him...
my point was tell us we don't know that jake is da man!

I'll come forward. I thought C Long was going to be great, and I was hoping we'd take him #1. I also thought J Long would be a good pick. Gholston was the guy I didn't want, and I'm REALLY glad we didn't take him.
I thought a lot about C. Long and still do. He is a special player. I advocated for him on this site, but always pointed out that I didn't think you could go wrong with either Long. I also understood that Jake's position was a position of need. After the combine, I pointed out that I thought Gholston would be a major mistake too.
What about all the McFadden cheerleaders? Mayocks knock on him was that he runs to vertical, does not make people miss and his legs were too skinny and weak and he is an injury concern. He was right on all counts.
In all fairness...It looks like I was wrong about Matt Ryan as well.
Happy we got Jake, I was vehemently against Chris when you looked at his college stats you could see that when he played against good OT they shut him down, consistently.
Ahh...but he was the only person to get a sack against Jake in college.
That being said, I am glad we have Jake. It was the right pick. We needed him, he could contibute right away, there was value there over a bigger question mark like Ryan or McFadden or Long or Gholston.

Don't forget Rothlisberger & Pitt. He never would have set all those rookie records were it not for the brick wall Pitt had on the O-Line.
