I agree. Again, it was a money thing. What about Joe Berger? I have a feeling we're going to regret dumping him as well.

Wasn't Reshad Jones the one that was getting beat like a drum?

we better sign allen. however, it makes to much sense so we probably won't. we will probably sign someone off the cowboy's practice squad instead.

I was always in favor of keeping allen instead of sapp.

Jones got torched on the pass to Hernandez where they called it a TD, then replay put it on the one. Then, I think he got torched on the next play for a 1 yard TD. He was cramping though, so it was OK

why cut sapp? b/c he had a bad game? they had all offseason to evaluate him and decided he was the 3d best CB on the team, keeping him on the roster and guaranteeing his pay for this year. now after 1 game they decide he is not good enough to be on the team. this FO is so moronic I don't know where to begin.

they has BETTER sign will allen after this.

Not catching Welker was the reason he was cut. He took a bad angle, and could not cover Welker with a blanket. Will Allen might be older, but he is a savvy veteran who knows how to play the position Benny Sapp is garbage. The Patriots dared his dumb ass to stop a pass all game, and he failed on every occassion except one. Their game plan was to exploit our 3rd, and 4th corners. After that performance someone had to go. Sapp was the one who was embarassed by Welker so he was made an example of to the rest of the team. I mean come on 1st down on the 1 yard line, and 99 yard TD to Welker WTF. Anyway it does not really matter because we aren't going anywhere with the way our defense played.

again, we cut someone the coaching staff felt after an entire training camp was the 3d best CB on the team, after 1 game? that means either (1) this staff does not know how to evaluate the players under its nose or (2) this staff makes knee jerk decisions based on 1 bad game. neither fills me with confidence.

again, if they don't immediately follow this up with signing will allen, but instead plan to keep playing carroll, elevate jimmy smith, or sign some no-name scrub, then I've lost what little faith I had in them.

ps watch the jets or pats sign sapp

I doubt it, but did you know that Jason Allen starts for the Texans I think. Tell's me all I need to know about their secondary if true. He was by far our worst DB last year, and now he's starting for the Texan's go figure. Sorry they have him listed as a 2nd string corner still Henne throw the damn ball at him all game long.

or maybe jason allen isn't that bad and we should have kept him around (he WAS leading the team in INTs and was starting, and then we cut him). kind of reminds me of the sapp move--one day he is a key member of the CB rotation and making plays (he sapp was good in the preseason and had moments last year), the next he's not even among the best 53?

Bottom line is that the ball will be FLYING IN DA' AIR ALL SEASON when we are on defense.

Honestly, I don't remember seeing Clemons in the game at any point last night. Carroll appeared to take most of the abuse. But, keep in mind, it is always extremely difficult for any fan to evaluate the play of the DBs. We just don't know what the coverages call for. They play complex coverages in the NFL, with zone underneath, man over, all sorts of combinations. We have no way to know who really got burned on plays.

....would not have been able generate a better pass rush on Brady.

When your defense doesn't generate much of a pass rush on Tom Brady, then he's going to make your secondary look really bad.

The only way Will Allen would have been a significant upgrade, would have been if he had insisted that the entire secondary undergo more conditioning practice in high-heat/high-humidity conditions.

Hell yeah...Bombs away...

We're looking the worst pass defense in the league...

The run defense numbers will be great, because nobody will need to run, just fling that ball around like arena ball..

Just noting the griping on this board about how we should have kept Allen over Sapp...and it appears the FO has listened.
